Let us say that the Tea Party scores major victories in 2010 and the Republicans get a majority in Congress.
You can be guaranteed that unemployment extensions will stop, as part of their austerity program to cut the national debt.
There are 6 million long term unemployed people in America.
How are these people going to survive when the Republicans decide to cut their unemployment extensions? There are 6 people fighting for every available job. That means these 6.1 million people will have no money for paying rent or getting food. And charities are being strained to their limits.
What do Republicans think will happen to these 6.1 million people? Or the businesses that they now patronize? Or the landlords who will no longer be collecting rent from them? Or the banks that will be stuck with properties that are no longer collecting mortgage payments?
That is, of course, a rhetorical question. This is the blueprint for destroying a nation.
