this may be of interest to some out there who have hotmail. it was forwarded to me by a friend, and bugger me if it wasnt true. sorry if it has been posted before.

"To fellow Hotmail users.... please take note!! This IS true, as I hecked and had to make the changes myself.

In today's world we never know who has access to what information
and we seem to have no control over it. Companies such as MSN have done
underhanded things.


Did you know that about 2 months ago MSN added 2 little boxes in
all the profiles? These boxes if marked share your email with other users.

One box, if ticked, gives other people the right to see your
information including your address.


Now MSN has taken all the passports that were created before they
added this and marked YES SHARE MY INFORMATION and did not tell anyone. (!!!!)


HOW to remove your name:
Sign into your email account (for those with more then 1 you have
to do it for all of them);
Click on OPTIONS, then PERSONAL PROFILE and scroll to the bottom ... u will see the TWO added boxes - remove the check marks and finish up.

PLEASE FORWARD this to everyone who has hotmail - lets not wait
until it is too late (this may decrease all that junk mail that seems to have doubled lately). CHECK it out. It's true."

Sounds like crap ... there are dozens of "hoax" sites where you can check garbage like this out before posting. Just do a search for "internet hoax".

Really pisses me off when I get stuff like this in my personal mail because some well meaning (insert whatever noun you like) didn't bother to see if it was legit before wasting my time.

the boxes in question are actually there. my share box was ticked, and i know it wasnt when i signed up. i know what you are saying though, but this isnt one of those " delete this file" type of email.

Just looked, you are perfectly correct. Both my boxes are now unchecked!

cheers. like i said, i wouldnt post it if the advice was deleteing files or the like. just a little thing to look out for.

Thanks! I checked too, both at my accounts and at Urban Legends site. I believe you, for the sheer number of spams I ahve been receiving the past couple of months! I hope that won't continue now.
