We had a wagon that certainly does not need to make a comeback: an early 80s Olds Custom Cruiser Wagon DIESEL. I was just a kid. It seemed so cool with all its features. It left us stranded nearly everywhere we took it. According to this list, it was one of the reasons (number 6) for the demise of the Oldsmobile marque.

The diesel that GM used in those days never should have made it off the manufacturing floor. There were so many problems with them. Unfortunately, some VP somewhere that had no business being a VP decided to go ahead and put those not only in Oldsmobile's but in Cadallic's, too. Very expensive mistake for GM.

It was a quick fix for MPG ratings and was never fully worked out. They tried to make a diesel out of a gas block, if I remember correctly.
