I don’t think most couples would jump nude in a hot tub on the first “date”. There has to be some time to allow the fire to simmer and become a full blown forest fire. Now, if the couple was out of town on a vacation (where she can forget the kids, job, this and that)….

OK, I'll bite. Again. You'd be surprised what a young couple will do with a bit of peer group pressure, particularly if the story is set in the swinging 70's or early 1980's. Voice of experience. I was there.

I knew a young couple in Austin, Texas who had "nude-in" parties in the early 1980's. You came and got naked, drank a lot of keg beer and punch. They weren't swingers, just UT post-grads being really post-modern or whatever. Sex happened. It wasn't labeled straight, bi, gay, polyamorous or Martian. it just was. Contrition was put off for the days afterwards. Needless to say the situation was unsustainable.

So the idea of showing up at a party full of people naked in a hot tub is hardly unlikely. It happened all the time. Later in history something similar occurred in the Rave party scene with X-tasy group cuddles or "puddles" where groups of stoned kids made out on the floor of a party, often without much passion but a lot of love and empathy. Hegel's cycle of history spirals upward.

It's a great idea, particularly if there are sub-themes (different ages, ethnic backgrounds of the couples, professions, values, religion) to add richness to the story. These things work if there is plenty of intoxication and 2-3 excellent smooth talking men and women who can convince the others to let go of their inhibitions. It can also get hot when there are 1 or 2 particularly attractive women who have to deal with more cock than they could expect, given the au naturel nature of the party.
