A while back I posted a thread about pocket knives. In it I mentioned a certain pocket knife I had carried for many years but had lost. It was a small Puma of very high quality.

This morning as my wife was digging through some boxes in a closet she found a small box. Inside that box, among other things was this small knife.

Hot Damn. The wood in the sides is faded and the brass has a bit of green on it but the blade is as sharp as ever.

The only problem is it no longer locks open. The notch in the blade was filled with a hardened clump of what I can only think is ancient pocket lint. Even after I cleaned this out it still doesn't lock. I'm thinking the matching notch in the back of the blade is also filled. I'll have to think of some way to clean that out.

I'm still happy to have found this little momento though.

It might be worth contacting the company. Perhaps they have some sort of a warranty policy.

I don't think that would be any good. I bought the knife in 1984.

I just have to figure out some way to clean out the notch.

I've found that Polident is good for cleaning more than dentures -- especially for getting gunk like fossilized pocket lint out of difficult to reach crevices.
