they were sold out of the plaid skirt.. any other suggestions.

It does seem hard to maneuver ..

Yes, that is exactly what I would want to do... that knob is so important,, will have to do a close inspection of that gear shift shaft to make sure it can withstand the possible torque. the knob is critical., that could need a lot of work..
