Hay all.
First I've started this thread as I can't really find a thread to post my question.
I am seeking advice on writing Horror. I have been working on a story I submitted it but it came back rejected, the reasons were a bit confusing, as one of the reasons was that I may have been to nasty to a victim! the only part of the story I could think of was when my lady vampire brought a woman to her love to feed on. There were a few other details they gave me but if anyone can give me some tips that would be great.
many thanks.
Hotdoll.

Heres the advice:

Horror and humor take the same form. Exactly.

When the coffin pins you in the corner, only Smith Brothers drops can make the coffin stop.

Hmmm, my vampires here have done just about anything and everything--even sexually. You might try posting this to the Editors forum to see if someone there might be interested in taking a look at it.

Oh, and you don't need to pay any attention to the attention-craving first responder. We all understand.

Yes Thanks for that cool. I am jigging it about at the moment but yea I may just send it to a editor, I have a lot of ideas for stories with vamps so I will venture on.
many thanks and I will look into your stories don't worry I won't copy you lol..

When it comes to the Horror category Hotdoll, you really should listen to sr71plt as he is the past master of Horror erotica:

I write a lot of stories about prostitution. As they are gay or bi rent-boys, though, they have to go in Gay Male.

I write a lot of straight stories, but I think all of the vampire stories I have here are Gay Male. I have some other straight horror stories here with monsters other than vampires, like "Alienated" (https://www.literotica.com/s/alienated), "Snaked" (https://www.literotica.com/s/snaked), and "Ungeheuer" (https://www.literotica.com/s/ungeheurer). I wasn't suggesting you consult my stories as guides. But then NicoleZ wasn't suggesting that, either (she's a a NOIRTRASH sidekick).

Without much detail the only thing I could think of was there sexual satisfaction during the death? That could get it rejected.

Pilot mentioned he's pretty much gotten away with that, but that could be because he's been around awhile or maybe it got through in that particular mood swing by the one editor here.

The site is consistently inconsistent in all things so unless you received a very specific message its all guess work. Horror usually gets a lot of leeway thought so it is strange.

The reason he gets away all the time is that he and Manu (a.k.a. "Moderator") are different aspects of the same biological entity. When Pilot gets butt-hurt, Moderator rejects your stories out of spite.

For the record, hotdoll, my only reason for posting was to help you get your problem solved. I didn't post for either you or me to be wading around in these alligators.

I have no idea how/why any vampire story gets accepted/rejected here. I just write what turns me on about the vampire concept and submit it. It's always been accepted here.

The "Snaked" story was originally rejected. In her scan Laurel apparently thought I was talking about a real snake. When I clarified that I wasn't, the story was posted without any change required.

Again, I suggest you pose this question in the Editors forum--more help; fewer alligators.

PILETTE'S best horror story is FRANKEN-Stine, a tale about Al Franken and Jill Stine elected to the White House. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll pee your Depends.

I did laugh at NicoleZ's equating me with Manu. Yet another example of how clueless she is concerning the history of and dynamics at Literotica. :D

Laurel is the story moderator, not Manu. Manu's role is more on the technical side of things.

Beyond that, it seems a bit weird that somebody who regularly criticises aspects of how the site's run (e.g. categorisation system, time taken for the long-awaited site overhaul) would secretly also be one of the site owners. But maybe it's all a diabolically clever ruse.

Re. the original post: horror stories get a bit more leeway but it can be tricky figuring out exactly where the line is drawn. It may be worth messaging Laurel to see if she can give you more specific information about how to salvage the story.

I think the rough guideline is no snuff, i.e. characters getting sexual gratification from death, although some posted stories do stretch that a bit. (I ran this one by Laurel before submitting it because I wasn't sure, but she gave it the green light.)

Nope, you're way off target.

Manu is scouries.

I have gotten stories rejected because at least one character received treatment they did not want (i.e. nonconsent). Even if it's rape, it's not "really" rape on Literotica, because the victim in the story must always consent at some point. The same might apply to horror and death. I only have one horror on here, though, and it's Lovecraftian in nature. Strangely, it was published without incident. Hahaha

Horror is horror until it's snuff, and Laurel defines the line. I don't envy her that job. The one story I posted to horror wasn't very horrifying and I regret my decision to post there. The category is a wasteland and my story went wasted.

Meanwhile IRL many of my compatriots face aquatic not erotic horror. Oroville Dam (USA's tallest) may fail any moment. 100,000 folks downstream (EDIT: it's 160000 now) face mandatory evacuation. If the Big O cuts loose, everything down to Sacramento could be scoured clean.

Let's LITeroticize that. A huge dam fails. Countless humans are swept away to... aquatic horror. Mer-people, selkies (were-seals), giant unicorn seahorses, talking catfish, and such horny fantasy critters scoop-up the flash-flooded humans for sexual use. Maybe tentacle monsters get in on the fun. Imagine being a telepathic squid's bitch...

Of course we are. When are we going to let her in on the big secret that I'm you? Or are you me? Why aren't we writing more gay incest stories?

I have seen that supposition posted, yes. But I was saving it for when her head was about to explode. :D
