Hello all! As you can tell, if you've ever read my profile, I'm a big fan of Horror movies and I assume that some of you out there might have a scary movie or two that you realy enjoy. With Halloween coming up soon I thought it would be nice to have a thread to ask what are your favorite horror movies of all time? Let me break it into 5 topics:

1)Favorite Slasher movie

2)Favorite Ghost movie

3)Cheesy movie

4)Scariest movie

5)The Best

Here are my picks:

1) A Nightmare on Elm St.

2)The Sixth Sense(The Shining a VERY near second)

3)Evil Dead 2

4)Aliens or Event Horizon(cant realy pick one)

5)Evil Dead

So what are your picks?

AHHH a fellow horror freak.

Favorite slasher movie
Texas chainsaw massacre (c'mon it's a classic)

Favorite ghost movie
Fright Night (the first and origional)

Cheesy Movie
Army of Darkness (evil dead 3)

Scariest Movie
The Excosist

THE BEST
The Excosist

The Saw is Family

Ah yes TCM is a classic movie indeed. Gotta love the line "Look at what your brother did to my door!" and the whole chase scene between Leatherface and Marilyn Burns through the house and the field. One of my personal favs.

Ah yes Renegade *remembering the horror and gore*

TCM is, in my humble oppinion the front runner to every slasher movie made since.

And that was (and still is) a good scene in the movie.

1)Favorite Slasher movie?
Not really a horror movie, but The Bone Collector!!!

2)Favorite Ghost movie?
The "adult version" of 6th Sense with Kevin Bacon in it. (I can't think of the name.)

3)Cheesy movie?
The Night of the Scarecrow!!!! Or any other 70s and earlier show.

4)Scariest movie?
Well, when I was a VERY little kid I saw Poltergeist for the first time ALONE. I was scared shitless and didn't sleep for like a week. (Nowadays I don't really get scared at any of 'em.)

5)The Best?
Any 90s version of the "classics" (Wes Craven's New Nightmare, Carrie II: The Rage, H2O)

Yes, yes, yes!!!!

Tiggs, you're thinking of Stir of Echoes.

Thank you! Yes, Stir of Echos. I don't know why I can never think of the name!

P.S.
One of the movie critics
out there did dub it
the "aduld version" of 6th
sense!! :) (Or 6th Sense for
adults? However you want to
say it!)

C'mere Tiggie... I have a finger for you

But first, let me list my favorites..

1. Favorite slasher movie: Nightmare on Elm Street

2. Favorite Ghost Movie: The Sixth Sense (IWUBU Bruce Willis)

3. Cheesy Movie: I'm still laughing my butt off at Night of the Scarecrow and that would be one of my picks but I'd have to say the movie "Uncle Sam" was a tad cheesier.

4. Scariest Movie: The Shining

5. The Best: It's a "Scream" baby!

1.) Nightmare on Elm Street - Slasher

2.) The 6th Sense - Ghost

3.) Prom Night- Cheesy

4.)Night of the Living Dead - Scariest

5.) Jaws and Scream- Best

Oh yeah Scream is a great slasher movie. It barely looses out to Nightmare on Elm St. because Nightmare had the better villian and was creepier but Scream definatly had the better cast. Anyone else out there want to list their favs? Also I want to add one more topic that came to me this morning:

6)Best Vampire movie

My pick:

6)From Dusk Till Dawn ("Now is my shit together, or is my shit together?")

Did you ever see my movie, starring me, my chainsaw and Ramlick? All the SRS (Sexual Reassignment Surgery) cost him was a little gas and oil.

1) Favorite Slasher Movie: Urban Legends (new)(I loved the end where Rebecca Gayheart goes *ding! ding! ding! ding!* like a psycho game show host!:))
Psycho ("Norman!" "Yes mother?")

2) Favorite Ghost Movie: The Sixth Sence

3) Favorite Cheesy Movie: (tie) Children of the Corn (1-??)
Rabid Grannies (it's a 70's/80's bad B movie)

4) Scariest Movie: The Blair Witch Project (new)
The Shining (classic)

5) The Best: The Exorcist!!!! ("Such a lovely day for an exorcism..." ~Linda Blair)

1)Favorite Slasher movie -- None

2)Favorite Ghost movie -- The Uninvited

3)Cheesy movie -- Plan 9

4)Scariest movie -- Tie; Nosferatu, The Haunting (originals on both)

5)The Best -- Same as 4

You're into the classic huh CreamyLady? Never seen the original Haunting but the original Nosferatu was realy good for a silent movie. Usualy I don't get into silent movies but the silence realy helped the grim feeling to Nosferatu alot which I liked.

Hopelessly mired in the past, Renegade. I highly recommend The Haunting. It really captures the atmosphere of the novel, which scares the living bejabbers out of me today.

As for Nosferatu, Max Schreck is absolutely the best Dracula ever. He manages to convey the real hunger, for love and companionship, rather than just bloodlust.

I love that movie. I really do.

THE EXCORCIST is hard to beat. Never felt the fear of god like that one, there is a spot where a subliminal image flashes for a split second, a horrified screaming white face. It's there.

I also heard stories of spirits haunting the set during the filming of this movie. Large pieces of equipment moving around, weird shit.

That little girl in poltergeist died mysteriously... (shudders)
