Good point. Both are appropriate. I suppose it depends on what you regard as their prime purpose. Is it their own death or the deaths of others?

If it is their own death with others as incidentals then Suicide would seem appropriate.

If, however, they regard kiling other people as the prime purpose of their 'mission' then Homicide would be more appropriate.

Whatever, they are still killers!

Well

Most "bombers" are trying to be homicidal (or at least destructive). The main attribute that makes "suicide bombers" different from other people blowing thing up is that they are killing themselves in the process. Therefore, they are suicide bombers. I suppose Fox may have changed it to "homicide bombers" is because people are sensitive about the subject of suicide. ::shrugs:: Anyway, this is silly semantics debate. Enough :)

Just a tiny little correction that may be of no significance.

Fox and CNN have been reporting the story from the White House this morning. Bush called them "Homicide Bombers" in a brief comment this morning about today's bombing in Jerusalum which killed 6 people. Then Arie Flescher responded to questions about the term. Arie said that Bush had called them Homicide bombers because their intent was to kill innocent people; and their own deaths were just a means to that end. He said that there was no reason to "glamorize" a murderer.

Fox and CNN have made a big deal of Bush's use of the term. It will be fun to watch to see if FOX or CNN adopts the term. I give CNN a 0.0% chance of adopting the term, and FOX about a 50% chance.
