I am venturing into making my own floggers, I've learned to tie a turkshead knot and feel like I am ready to attempt making my first one.

But here is the thing I have to buy the leather/suede from an online store because I can't find a leather store here that is close enough to my home. Online they sell the leather in amounts of square feet...anyone here make their own floggers and can tell me roughly how many square feet it requires to make one?

Also I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to attach the turkshead to the handle...do you glue it onto the handle?

And there is such a wide variety of different leathers/suedes...what is the best ones to use?

Any help be it personal experience or internet links would be greatly appreciated ;)

In the FAQs Before Posting sticky in How To, there are detailed instructions on searching effectively, under "How do I find info?" or something like that. It took me awhile to figure out how to get the results I wanted out of searching, too, so I added it to that sticky for others.

Google can also work. Use something like site:literotica.com make floggers. :)

You may also find you can purchase leather at a better price through offcuts from a garment or furniture manufacturing outlet. I found that was the best way to go for buying cane for making my canes, so it may be the same for leather or suede.

slight thread detour - Catalina - I just found a cane furniture maker / repair shop this weekend to make some of your canes :) - winter gift making time.

Most of the other sites I found in Florida were leather goods (finished products) not just hides and crafting supplies.

Hope that helps!
