holy week

We went to a beautiful, very moving Good Friday Cantata tonight. I wasn't able to attend the Maundy Thursday service last night. We will be in church Sunday to celebrate Easter.

I don't celebrate Easter, since I'm not Christian. My family sometimes goes to a brunch on Easter and I tag along with them. However, because Sabrina's eggs are due to hatch so soon, we did not make reservations for brunch this year.

Basically, like any other week. Our congregation was mostly elderly, and while it switched to online services, it did not survive the pandemic. I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks. They were old like us, or older. In our case, we have not affiliated with another congregation as yet. Best guess, we probably won't. That said, one holy week tradition shall survive. Lunch at Olive Garden after church. It was one of the few places open on Easter Sunday, so years ago we went there. In the interim, that location re-located closer to home, and we included more of the family, even though they had married and relocated, It seemed to be a central location with food that was acceptable to all. SO, even though we personally won't be going to church on Easter Sunday, our family ( those that are in state this year) will be having lunch with us at Olive Garden, our treat, of course.

hatching eggs sounds like a very appropriate activity on easter.

it’s hard to find a new home after having the same one for so long. my parent’s congregation is in a similar boat. i love that you go to the olive garden with family. that sounds like a beautiful tradition. we celebrate with my better half’s family. big get together in the afternoon. bbq, lots of kids, two easter egg hunts - one for the littles and one with cascarones where no one is safe. it’s always been a day the whole family looks forward to every year. this year i am making rolls from scratch, using my great grandmother’s recipe. i haven’t made them without my grandma or mom before, but it’s time to pass the recipe down to my own.

5 adult children, 4 significant others, 8 grandchildren, 3 cats and a decrepid old hound, will be at the house at 9am sharp. We are crafting a brunch, to feed the hoard. I will be striving to be more like Jesus, rise and ascend to heaven. Hopefully, I will achieve transcendence and get away from the coming shit storm of crying babies, hissing cats, barking dogs, milling adults, overly loud talking, ravenous children and a bugged out wife.

Amen.

bless the hoard. watch out for crosses.
Annual zombie movie marathon week at our house.
that is fabulous.

We take the kids Easter Egg hunting at local church events then go to the evening before service to avoid the Sunday morning crowd. On actual Easter day, we cook a big breakfast and just have quality family time.

The week has been pretty normal. I'm no longer religious but will spend tomorrow with someone who very well may call the name of the diety :devilish:

This last week has been quite busy with too many clients who demand to be the most important people in my life. In other words, lots of work which beats not enough work. Also, I took time to give an introductory webinar on some tech I work with which turn out well, but was exhausting. I'd rather do in-person rather than web presentations. Overall, no activities have been done with regard to Holy Week. Tomorrow will be a big family king crab dinner. There will be deviled eggs, but they won't be made from colored eggs.
