my god, the numbers are staggering. sorry used to small more intimate forums with far fewer people. new to this site, gee how could you tell? anyway, just surfing thru, trying to check things out without drowning in the onslaught on sheer mass of flesh beyond the screen. whoa! un-fucking-believable. yeah, yeah i'm a small town girl....sigh. howdy from southeast texas if anyone even notices this thread. and would dearly appreciate gentle, friendly advice on getting acclimated to these forums. thanks!

There are several forums, not just the Playground (which is where you are now) so look around until you find someplace to fit in.

wow, where to start......I'd try some of the question and answer threads....always a fun way to meet people.....I normally hang out at Momma's Kitchen....I'm the resident smart ass....

There are many threads by Cookiejar....she's a great person....and a very good sense of humor to cheer you up on those tough days....

My friend Barn has a bitching thread......though I notice he just started it to meet women....

and there are so many more.....just pick one and pop in and say hello....before you know it.....you won't be able to keep up with them...

Then again....this thread is a nice place.....just watch how many people stop in and welcome you....

Welcome to Lit and the Playground. I hope that you enjoy your stay here. Like KS said there are quite a few nice threads. if you have a bratty attitude, there is the Brats thread. We tease each other alot but mostly just talk with friends and let our hair down a bit. Also there is the new Family of Lit thread, anyone who drops in immediately becomes part of the family and let me tell you, if you ever are down, or have some kind problem or crisis going on in your r/l, these ppl will definitely be there for you. But just take a look around and jump in and have fun! The games threads are alot of fun too! And they also will make your post count go up real quick and you can get an avatar at 100 posts!

You don't have to jump in at the beginning of a lot of them...just click on the little arrow to the right and it will take you to the most recent post there. The Lit Bar is a nice place to visit..we always welcome newcomers there!

Welcome to Lit, cynter! Don't be overwhelmed, there's no need. Just get the feel of a few of the threads, find one or two that seem to appeal to you (either in their discussions or in the people who post there) and start posting yourself. One thing ... do not be discouraged by the sheer size of a thread, or feel that you can't join in even if it seems that it's a tight little clique of people. Particularly here in the Playground, all the threads are welcoming and near as I can tell welcome new people.

Once you feel at home, then follow others who you find interesting to the other threads that they post in and you'll find other threads that fit you.

Several good threads have been mentioned already (aussies, various "game" threads, ) and I'll add one more that hasn't ... True Confessions (and no, confessions are not mandatory, nor even that common anymore ... just a bunch of very supportive people)

The biggest warning has already been mentioned as well ... the forums are addicting, in an extreme degree!!
