taxes.

April 15 is, like, this month, isn't it?

In Britain, Sweden, and the portions of Canada that have access to the mail, what is the equivalent, panic-wise and pounding-head-on-the-desk-wise, of forgetting about one's income taxes?

This calls for procrastination in the form of posting a poll.

I never panic - it takes them a year to catch up to me:) By then, I will be able to afford to pay them.

File an extension and procrastinate properly!

I did that a couple of years ago. Did you know they actually follow up on that?!?

Good idea. I haven't filed an extension since I was married to a man who was even less financially responsible than I.

IRS, I demand equal time.

Still waiting for my w2s for 2001 & 2002 to arrive and then will be filing 3 years worth. Long story. Hopefully it won't end with me in prison. Wait, do they really have cable in federal prison? :D

- Mindy, who thinks Uncle Sam should send me a thank you note being as I was owed money all 3 years. Think they'll let me charge interest? :D

Min, you and I both know that the IRS will try to do what's fair. We might take a swipe at them once in a while for the sake of a cheap laugh, but is there any job so thankless? Or so essential to the functioning of our democracy?

:rose:

I'll be filing for that extension soon. I hope the extra paperwork doesn't cause anybody to have to work extra hours.

Soon as I have all I need it's off to file and out of the way. Thank god for my two little deductions. Wish I could count the dog, she is afterall family, I board her, feed her and if I have to, I'll clother her.

 I just now finished our income tax returns and we are getting a small refund. It seems a shame with all the lying and cheating to get ony a few dollars out of it but, I guess I can live with that.

We have been getting refunds the last few years, but I still hate going through it.

Want to risk apoplexy? Read--or even read about--David K. Johnston's book about who pays taxes in America and who does not, Perfectly Legal.

Had to be receive the Last Rites after reading the abbreviated version in a chapter of Molly Ivans' Bushwhacked. And I'm not Catholic. Don't think I can handle much more.

The part that clogged my arteries: IRS instructed under GWB to go after more low-income scofflaws who claim poverty incomes, and to harrass fewer upper-income citizens. The literally fives of dollars we save per low income tax dodger could balance the lunch budget for next Thursday.

Isn't that unfair. The animal is less of a burden on society in that she'll never rob a convenience store, and unlike parents of children, I don't litter the beach with her disposable diapers - I clean up after her because I should, and to avoid the fine. Children get all the tax breaks. Wait, no, Cheney gets the tax breaks, and children whose dads are nice to Cheney. But the Cheney dogs, cats, rabbits? Not one red cent.

The tax man owes me about 'three grand', so you can bet your sweet arse that form will be sent back completed as soon as it arrives, the way our system works we have until September to file the self assessment forms avoiding penalties, but I aint waiting that long.

Boxy how could you cheat on your nation by fiddling the tax man:eek: My word I'd never dream of doing that:devil:

jesus christ, whats a girl gotta do to get a refund? I'll be paying off my taxes longer than my mortgage. Double jesus - like I can afford that - I'm too busy paying off my taxes

From personal and professional experience, I know that the IRS and other taxing agencies will cheat people out of as much as they can. I used to work as a tax auditor so this is actually something know, not just opinion. I figure that I am just reducing their ill-gotten gains.
