One real that went with my purple theme and one small artificial tree on the piano that was my patriotic tree -- all red, white & blue with little flags and small pictures of relatives when they were in the service. The little one stayed up all year. I started to take it down a while back and everyone said "WHY? It's nearly time to put it back up again!"

Wait until December to get some of the kids stuff and it will already be sold out. Wait until Christmas Eve, and selection will be zilch.
I LIKE picking the right gifts for the right people. I hate giving money and will only give gift certificates if I'm desperate. Waiting until December to shop would almost guarantee a lot of IOUs, cash, or gift certificates for people.
