Holiday Mini Present

There are so many great and wonderful people here at AH. It is impossible to thank all of them for their myriad of contributions in making this such a homey place to hang out, visit, flirt, vent, question and all the other things that happen here.

As an early Holiday mini-present, I have a multitude of Gmail mailbox invitations. To use Gmail is a dream compared to many of the other ‘generic’ mailboxes available. It is cleaner, neater, and lacking the time consuming graphic ads that make so many slow and cumbersome.

There are no requirements needed for obtaining Gmail box, beyond needing an invitation to start one. If you desire one you can PM me with your email address. I have to have an address in order to ‘send’ the invite to you. If you need other arrangements, PM me and I’ll see if they are do-able.

It’s not much, and they are free to me, so there is no cost involved, but it is something I can do for those that want them, because it would be impossible to give all that deserve one a Holiday gift.

Mine does, if I get what you're wanting. For example, if I have my gmail box open, it continually checks for mail on its own.

Look in settings. Mine does about every fifteen minutes, but I have it set as my default in netscape so I don't know which does what. Gmail also has a notifier if you are running 2000 or XP. Works great. Google also has a 'talk' IM if you know enough people using it to make it worthwhile to load.

I have gmail talk, but I don't really like it. It's not nearly as good as yahoo or msn. I do have gmail notifier, which is awesome because it allows gmail to become your default mail application (so when you click on someone's email address, it opens a gmail box for reply). But I never turn the notifier on.

I have to confess that it took me a bit to get used to Gmail. When I started my account, I had sent a bulk email to about fifteen people giving them the new email address. And it took me a while to be able to figure out where the replies were going! But now I love the way the "conversations" are saved.

Hugo set me up with gmail, and I'm getting *really* used to it now!
