This morning the wife and I headed down to the grocery store to do some shopping. We had to pick up a couple of items for the Weekend. (We'll be working Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.)

Nothing special. A case of suds and foodstuffs. (I did have to pick up a couple of Beef Roasts to smoke for a Christmas Day Pot Luck in work. They are sitting in the smoker now.)

It was madness in the grocery store with people trying to figure out what they needed for the Holidays. These people were nuts. We had to keep one of us by the cart at all times if we wanted to keep everything inside it.
After we arrived home and put things away we decided to get some lunch.

A new place opened up recently in the local Mall They call themselves the "Terriyaki Hut" but they serve mainly asian soups. Their soups are actually quite good and they even cook the vegetables and meats right in front of you as you wait. $7.99 gets you a bowl of soup large enough for a meal.

We were smart. We loaded Soup Spoons and other utensiles into our pockets then walked to the mall. I wasn't about to try to find a parking space there and it's only a mile. (I was right about the parking situation there. We didn't see a single open parking space.)

Now let me state right off the bat that the mall was packed. I had expected it to be busy but nothing like this. It was insanity. When we reached the fast food place the lady serving the mob recognised us and asked if I wanted my usual. I just nodded and she smiled as she rang it up. When we had been handed our soups we turned and looked at the seating in the food court. Good luck getting a seat in there. Every chair was taken and people were waiting to pounce. I led the way as we stepped outside the mall and found a wall in the sun and out of the wind to sit against and enjoy our lunch.

Mall Security came by a couple of times and when they saw us sitting there they stopped and asked why we were there. I just told them to try and find a place to sit in the food court. They heard this and left, leaving us to enjoy our food.

The entrance to the mall gave us quite the show as we watched several people get nailed by the police for shop lifting.

When we were done we policed up our trash and ditched in a convenient can before heading for home. We didn't even bother going inside the mall, we just walked around it to the side facing the road.

Walking through the parking lot was an adventure as well. We were followed by cars thinking we were heading for our car, they wanted our parking space.

I usually go and spend time in the mall watching people around this time of year but I think I'll pass on that this year. It's just nuts in there.
