Perg and I were discussing that yesterday, and the answer seems convoluted. Then only reason I thought it was on the right because they hated Communism, but at the same time had central controls on industry. It was very difficult to understand where on the spectrum it was. In all, it was still a shitty regime.

He was a socialist (Nazi is a contraction of the German words for National Socialist party).
Socialism is traditionally considered a leftist ideology.
Fact is he was a fascist, yes.
Exactly. But fascism is traditionally considered a rightist ideology. Just goes to show you how mixed up these political terms can get.

Among the key elements of Nazism were anti-parliamentarism, ethnic nationalism, racism, collectivism,[8] eugenics, antisemitism, opposition to economic liberalism and political liberalism,[9] a racially-defined and conspiratorial view of finance capitalism,[10] anti-communism, and totalitarianism.
I would have said he was a right bastard...

i think the problem some people have is the fact the nazism isn't a traditional right wing ideology, but an extreme form. also, all that fucking cold war propaganda is hard to get over.
Hitler also had a very ironclad propaganda machine.

Hitler was also a fairly famous Roman Catholic.
I wonder if he ate meat on Fridays during lent?
And how long it typically took for him to give his confession?
