BLACKMOOR
AUDITIONS ARE CURRENTLY BEING HELD
FOR A LEAD SINGER. FEMALE PREFERRED.

TUESDAY, 7:30PM
BROOKLYN HALL

Caroline Reed read the flyer posted on the boards. She had just gotten out of class and noticed it...for some reason it caught her eye. How could it not? It was on black paper, written with flouresent paint. Designed to stand out.

Plus it was for a band she had tried out for and had gotten rejected last year. Seems like their last person hadn't lasted. For some reason, she hated the fact that she was rejected. It wasn't because of her voice...no, they told her that they would get in touch with her...

They never did. She knew it was because of the way she looked back then...well, that was her freshman year...this year would be different.

Yes this year was different. Her sophmore year in college and she was ready for them. They were a hit group, great music, great writing...just no one seemed to last with them as a lead singer for a long time. She had changed over the summer. Changed her looks, changed a lot of things...

Lead Singer and Guitar Player of the band Blackmoor

Another singer lost! This was four or five this year that came to a few rehearsals, did a gig or two with the band and then flaked out! Jimmy knew it was the nature of the beast, female vocalists were tough but, he also knew that every band like his needed a hot chick with pipes up front. He could sing and he enjoyed singing but, there were limits to his range and he simply could not tighten his jeans enough to sing the Rhiana and Beyonce songs that they needed as part of their set list.

Maybe it was the schedule, with the band practicing two nights a week and usually at least one gig on the weekends, if not two. The college girls that they had brought on always ended up with finals or boyfriends or something else that got in the way.

Jimmy was committed to getting to the next level. He was not a college boy, he was a musician dedicated to his music and, while the side benefits of fronting the band were certainly a bonus, he was looking for a career and to get there, he needed one more piece of the puzzle. A hot chick who could sing……Sounds easy….

So, here he was back on campus hanging up posters advertising upcoming auditions. Of course, they would probably get many of the same retreads they had rejected last year. It always seemed to work that way. He thought of putting a note on the posters that “if you weren’t good enough last year, you probably still suck so, stay home” except that he was running out of choices and out of time. He had four gigs on the calendar in the next three weeks including a big one on Saturday night. He needed somebody. Somebody good and somebody fast.

Taking the flyer from the board, Caroline wanted in on this group...why she didn't, she couldn't really explain.

Ever since she was younger, she had been the shy type. The one that stayed in the back of the room, quietly and didn't bring attention to herself. But here she was, ready to go in front of an audience. Her voice something of a mistake that was found out by one of her sister's boyfriend's and had encouraged her to do something with it. Why he was so encouraging was something she had never figured out but Caroline took the advice by heart.

Seeing a guy hanging up the posters, she knew who it was, JW, aka Jimmy Watkins, the one that had said they would be in touch with her...hah! See what happens? She thought to herself as she pasted a smile on her face and walked up to him, tapping his shoulder, "Hey JW..." she said, waiting as he turned around.

Caroline knew he wouldn't remember her but that was OK, not many did. Caroline had been to a few shows last year and had fallen in love instantly with the music and writing...the message of the songs... It was great!

Holding the flyer up, Caroline smiled when she was finally face to face with JW, "I should tell you to stop hanging them up since you'll stop looking once you hear me..." she told him boldly, "I'll be there.." with that, Caroline walked away, smiling evilly...

Hanging posters and wondering why he was the only one doing this crap, while the rest of the band napped, Jimmy felt a tap on his shoulder

"Hey JW..." she said, waiting as he turned around.

He turned and took in a seriously rockin' looking chick with dark hair, dark eyes, she'd certainly LOOK good on stage.....he immediately wondered if she could sing but, then he took an interest in more than her music. Jimmy wasnot your typical rock and roll slut boy but, he was 23, male a musician and pretty good looking, if he did say so himself. This meant that he had plenty of girls throwing themselves at him and he was only too happy to catch....except that he had not caught anybody in the last week of so and he was especially receptive a sexy female like the one in front of him,

"Hey, what's going on? Do I know you?"

Caroline said "no" and continued

"I should tell you to stop hanging them up since you'll stop looking once you hear me..." she told him boldly, B]

Jimmy smiled and laughed and called after her "Just looking smoking hot migjt not be enough.....Can you sing?"

"I'll be there.." with that, Caroline walked away, smiling evilly...[/

Chicks, Jimmy thought. She probably sings like a stepped on cat or has some other issue...maybe a crazy boyfriend or father. He hoped not, as he was ready to simply get going as opposed to constantly auditioning singers. With luck, tomorrow night, they'd have a good turnout and they have some good choices to make. WIth luck.

For now, Jimmy hung the last of his posters and walked off campus. Heading out for a slice of pizza before picking up his gear for rehearsal. He stepped into Vincenzo;s and there she was, again. The dark, overcopnfident beauty who had lain down the gauntlet on campus.

"Hey, fancy seeing you here...."
