This thread has had several incarnations over time. I'm attempting to bring it back because I'm a history wonk, and I'm totally stubborn.

Armistice - The agreement to stop the conflict and fighting in World War I. It was only an agreement to stop fighting, it was not an agreement to end the war. That came with the Treaty of Versailles, which many people believe brought on WW II years later.

Camp David Accords - a peace agreement between Egypt and Israel. This cost Anwar Saddat his life, extremists in his own country assassinated him for participating in these accords.
