"Historic Storm"

The forecast was for 2 to 3 feet of snow in New York, the reality was about 5-7 inches. Not justifying a shutdown of the city, and instructions to citizens to be indoors by 9:00PM and off the roads by 11:00PM.

The forecast turned out to be wrong. I agree that in hindsight it didn't justify the shut down. But you said this was the first time it was shut down on a forecast. So what happened with Sandy. Because I don't understand.

The meteorologists who botched the forecast are federal employees. Need I say more?

Really yes you do. They seem to have a fairly decent track record. Honestly federal employees are amonst the most over worked and underpaid in the country. But that's beside the point.

It still might be historic on the amount of snowfall. As I understand it Connecticut and/or Massachusetts are right up against their records.

Um, so those meteorologists on local tv stations are just government workers? Those on the Weather Channel, too? Thanks for straightening me out. I thought they were just employees of the stations and channel.

I have to assume that the government doesn't get the news from CNN.

There was 10-12 inches that fell in New York City after the computer models showed two feet or more possible. 18 miles to the west of the city, they got right around that two feet. I'm sure you"geniuses" knew that would happen. There are 8 states that have been declared a state of emergency. The other states that wanted people off the road include those that bore the full brunt of the storm, and got feet of snow. So your "they overreacted" claims are fucking stupid. If the storm had moved just a little west, NYC would have been in serious trouble and the mayor made the call, the correct call to get people off the road. People probably would have died and you fucking dumbasses would have been all over that too.

Botany.... I often agree with you...but you talked out your ass just like vette on this one. It's ok, we all do it from time to time. Even you.

These people will blame the government for everything.

We received 5 inches of the light fluffy shit up here, 140 miles from the City. The meteorologists here, ALL certified and working with models programmed locally by two colleges, said that IF the storm followed one path, NYC was going to get hit with 2-3 feet, but if it moved a little more to the southeast, they'd receive far less. Well, nature happened and the City received far less.

Meteorology is NOT an exact science: Sometimes SHIT happens.

This is as stupid as it gets.. to make this out to be some sort of liberal scheme, communist scheme, martial law ploy or anything other that using some common sense cause a huge storm was heading right to a major city with MILLIONS of people living in it, and many more flying in and out of it is the absolute height of ridiculous.

It's amazing how smart people that do nothing much more than sit behind their monitors many hours a day, day after day.....can be.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

It's all Obama's fault. Look where he is now, when the country needs him!

He's exactly where he needs to be. God was trying to kill him, and when he noticed he wasn't there he tried to adjust his aim. But storms are hard to aim on the fly.

Unless Katrina, then it's perfect science and Bush did it because he hates black people.

Or a good way to fear monger people into a gestapo style martial law....then government is savior and meteorology is infallible!!

LMFAO!!!

How is that world ending defcon1 blizzpocalypse going? You got a body count even close to a chump ass tornado yet?

Lol...you might wanna try a new brand of weed, the one you are currently full of isn't working. Up in the middle of the night running your big mouth.

The brunt of the storm missed by 18 miles, dumbass. That could not have been predicted and you really are a fucking idiot sometimes. Only true stupid shits would turn a potential deadly storm into a political argument...congrats, you and your pa vette are on the same page.

Go fuck yourself.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

No, the storm, when it came, might not have justified the shutdown, but the forecast did justify it. It would irresponsible and negligent for any mayor/governor, presented with such a forecast, not to take such drastic action.
