Hello ladies and gents, it is me again! The AH always comes through for me when i need help with my research.

So, do any of you guys know some terms of endearment in Hindi?

I need some for a young Hindi Gentleman who is falling madly in love with a young British woman. So some playful names that you'd use fairly casually and a a couple of more intense lover type ones too would be good.

Also i think it'd be cute for her to look up a Hindi term of affection for him or even to learn how to say 'I love you' in Hindi to say to him...

I am of course clueless as always and appreciate any and all help you guys can give me.

I really bit off more than I could chew when I agreed to write a Bollywood inspired story...

Bangla?

If it's set in UK EL, your Indian gent is much more likely to speak Bengali. Maybe you could ask for an Indian editor, there should be one around, because there are more Indian than UK readers on Lit.:)

No, the guy is a Bollywood actor from Mumbai, the young lady is a Brit. :)

The story is one for a publisher, so I've got the same editor I always have, a very lovely American lady. :)

Thanks for the suggestions though!

EL, I have been searching Yahoo Adult Groups for you. stories2005 had many Indian stories in their daily messages but I left the group because so many of the stories were unreadable. I couldn't understand the languages, not even the "Hinglish".

You could try searching Literotica stories with the tags "hindi" or "indian" - I found indian_exec2000 who has his conversations in Hindi followed by the translation into English.

Here are the ways of saying "I Love You" in Hindi.

hindi : Mae tumko pyar kia
hindi : My tumko pyar karta hu
hindi : Main tumse pyar karta hoon.

hindi : Ham Tomche Payer Kortahe
hindi : Mai tumse peyar karta hnu.
hindi(Kannada) : Naanu ninnannu premisuththene

PRIYA (प्रिया): Hindi name meaning "beloved."
MADHU (मधु): Hindi name derived from the name of first month, from Sanskrit madhu, meaning "honey."

Following is from AbsoluteWrite: Some of this may not apply to what you are wanting or needing, but thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

You could use "Meri jaan," which literally translates as "my life" but carries the same weight as "darling." [Oh, and that would be pronounced "may-ree jahn".]

He could call her Chandni ki rani (literally Queen of silver) because there's a connection between silver and moon. (Moon is Chand or Chandra.) Or "Shehzadi" which is princess, but Muslim. (Are your characters Hindu or Muslim?) But frankly, those are a bit formal, and would be more appropriate at the courtship phase.

Once they're married, he would likely call her by some cute diminutive of her name, which would have the same implication of affection. For example, if her name is Geetika, he might call her Geetu, or 'my Geetu.' Or something simple like "rani" which means queen. (It's also used as a name.)

If you want romantic rather than affectionate, "Mere sapnon ki rani" - Queen of my dreams- refers to an old song from a Hindi movie (sapnon is pronounced sup-no)

Another option is "Taaron ki rani" as a name he uses when they're courting ("Queen of the stars"), which would be a play on the above. It could be shortened to Taru later, and only they would know why he calls her that.

Thank you, that is helpful! :)

I've also had a helpful PM that has given me some good ideas too.

Cheers all!
