Naomi Klein Takes Down Hillary Clinton: ‘I Don’t Trust Her on Climate at All’

When it comes to the Democratic presidential frontrunner’s position on one of the most pressing issues facing humanity, author and journalist Naomi Klein isn’t mincing words: She says flat-out that she doesn't trust Hillary Clinton on addressing climate change.

"I don't trust her on climate at all," Klein told Al Jazeera’s Mehdi Hasan, in an UpFront interview scheduled to air on Friday, March 18. "As secretary of state, when she had a huge megaphone to make this an issue, to show that she understands the connections between human security and climate, she didn't use the megaphone."

Klein, a fierce critic of corporate capitalism, also questioned the rationale behind Clinton’s White House bid:

The logic of her candidacy was because she had so much money […] which is why she is unbeatable — look at how deep the pockets are there. But the irony is, it’s where that money comes from and the entanglement of the Clinton Foundation with so many corporations and so many governments, that is what makes her vulnerable. So on the one hand, it’s supposed to be what makes it inevitable, and on the other hand it’s what I think makes her a weak candidate.

She called Bernie Sanders a "significantly better candidate" than Clinton. "I think that Bernie Sanders could win in a general election," she said.

Hillary’s emails reveal lucrative ties to for-profit colleges

Student loan debt continues to be one of the largest economic issues plaguing the U.S., with the total amount topping $1.3 trillion. Hillary Clinton’s higher education policy touts debt-free degrees for underprivileged students. But is she being genuine in her efforts to address the issue?

While Hillary loves to rail against shady for-profit colleges on the campaign trail, she does have some financial ties to them that are likely to shape whether or not she holds them accountable for ripping students off.

It was recently revealed through Hillary’s emails that during her first year as Secretary of State she insisted that Laureate Education be included in the guest list for an education policy dinner hosted at the U.S. Department of State.

“It’s a for-profit model that should be represented,” she wrote in the August 2009 email, and as a result, a senior vice president at Laureate was added to the guest list. Several months later, former President Bill Clinton became an honorary chancellor of Laureate International Universities, which turned out to be incredibly lucrative. He was paid a cool $16.5 million between 2010 and 2014 for his role with the for-profit college.

Shillary? yes.

Clinton aide: Sanders needs to change 'tone' if he wants NY debate

A top aide to Hillary Clinton's campaign on Monday dodged questions about setting up a debate with Bernie Sanders in New York, saying it depends on the senator's "tone."

"This is a man who said he'd never run a negative ad ever. He's now running them. They're planning to run more," Joel Benenson, Clinton's chief strategist, said on CNN. "Let's see the tone of the campaign he wants to run before we get to any other questions."

After winning a trio of states over the weekend, Sanders on Sunday called for a debate in New York ahead of that state's April 19 primary. The Vermont senator is looking to cut into Clinton's delegate lead and says he has the "momentum" heading into the latter half of the race.

The pair faced off in a Miami debate earlier this month, and a Sanders campaign letter on Sunday said the two campaigns had agreed to a California debate in May but had not agreed to terms on a debate in April, according to The New York Times.

"What's the risk?" CNN's Kate Bolduan asked Monday, pressing multiple times about agreeing to a debate in New York.

"There's no risk. She's done very well in the debates," Benenson responded.

"Sen. Sanders doesn't get to decide when we debate, particularly when he's running a very negative campaign against us," he continued.

"Let's see if he goes back to the kind of tone he said he was going to set early on. If he does that, then we'll talk about debates," Benenson added.

As Hillary's support slips, she wants Bernie to be nicer. Maybe he should just roll over and let her stroke his...

Voting Hillary

If she wins, we will add your name to the list of facilitators of feminist fascists then.:)

No, really, why do you support her? Are you like the Pile-it, impressed with her grasp of International affairs, or her vast experience in Government based on her six years as a Senator and her stint at State?

Or that she is a woman, and it's about time we had a woman president?

She's smart and has by far the most experience of the candidates running. I also appreciate her realistic goals over Sanders' promise things that never have a chance of happening strategy. I also liked Obama and Clinton has said her goal is to bring us a 3rd Obama term.

That and I don't think a celebrity or a senator of a small, homogenous state whose done little in office than rename a couple of post offices is fit to hold the most powerful position in the world.

I have no doubt that if she is elected the Rethuglicans will try their best to obstruct her as they have Obama. If she can't carry a Democratic Congress in to help her she will be two years of raving bullshit, if she can't carry a mid-term majority any better than Obama did, it will be four years of bullshit.

I'm convinced she will not fight any harder for progressive issues than Obama did. However in her defense I will admit she is much better than the raving lunatics the Rethuglicans are forced to cope with.

While I agree that the republicans will obstruct her as much as Obama, the same would happen with a sanders presidency, who leans even further left than either of them. It doesn't help that sanders lacks support from many democrats as well.

The case for Hillary Clinton — and against #BernieOrBust

Okay, guys, it’s coming down to the wire and as much as it pains me to admit it, it really is looking more and more like what was a long shot for the Sanders campaign is becoming an impossible dream. And while it looks like she’s doing everything she can to make it hard, I believe we are going to have to fall in line behind Secretary Clinton when she takes the nomination.

As much as I may admire the career and talent of Susan Sarandon, I cannot join her in being a political nihilist about this election. I realized when Justice Antonin Scalia passed that the stakes are too high at this juncture U.S. history for me stay home in November or write in a Nader-style protest vote.

That said, I hope that Sen. Sanders will stay in the race for as long as he feasibly can. The Democratic Party could stand to learn a thing or two from the current Republican apocalypse.

If Bernie keeps plugging away perhaps he can force the convention to add some progressive planks into the platform.. Anti-citizens United, demilitarization of the police, actually going after war criminals and bank fraudsters, or perhaps term limits for Senators!

If it is true that Clinton is just a Regan Democrat, (I can believe that), we still won't be as badly fucked as if a Rethuglican wins.

So even if we have to open an Etsy shop that sells clothespins with Democratic donkeys on them so we can pinch shut our noses to pull the lever for Clinton in November, she is the last of the Reagan Democrats. The future belongs to us.

We have term limits for Senators.....we just choose to keep putting the same scum back in office forever and ever.

Incorrect. The only federal term limits are on the President, pushed through by the GOP after FDR kicked their greedy butts four times in a row. Some/many(?) states have imposed term limits on state offices -- which often leaves newby legislators at the mercy of lobbyists to write their laws and lifer staff to work the system. But USA Congresscritters, in Senate and House, can say in office as long as {JHWH} or their constituents allow.

Bottom line: term limits, like voter ID and gerrymandering and other forms of disenfranchisement and suppression, are totally small-d undemocratic, limiting who can vote and who can be voted for. These have been GOP tools for a long long time -- GOPs know that in free and fair elections, they're GONE, because their polices and platforms are repugnant to most citizens.

Be careful. BotanyBoy goes all fifth grader on anyone who corrects him.

Incorrect.

Correct. They are called elections and we can fire/replace any of them we want when their term is up.

We simply chose to rarely ever do that.

You haven't corrected shit and if asking you to back up your buushit with something other than fantasy land unicorn farts makes one a fight grader then so be it.

Incorrect. "Term limits" are written into law and prevent people from choosing. Throwing out the bums and replacing them with new bums is merely the franchise in operation.

Oh...yea the excuse for the inability to use the original term limiter correctly.

Oliver Stone Makes Impassioned Plea for Sanders: 'Hillary Clinton Has Effectively Closed the Door on Peace'

I’ve been in deep despair these last few months about our political landscape. This quote from Thich Nhat Hanh recently elevated my spirit, and I share it with you. Because I am — we are — still here! Though it’s clear that the die is cast and that Clinton will win — that is, if you believe in numbers and materialism, but I don’t, not completely.

I enclose here (below) several recent articles, which you need to read to understand how difficult a situation we’ll be in if we continue with a harder-line version of Obama. Hillary Clinton has effectively closed the door on peace, blasting both the Palestinian peace process and the Russians in the same week. NATO is her god, the best thing the “exceptional” US has to export in this new “American Century.”

Hillary’s record includes supporting the barbaric “contras” against the Nicaraguan people in the 1980s, supporting the NATO bombing of the former Yugoslavia, supporting the ongoing Bush-Iraq War, the ongoing Afghan mess, and as Secretary of State the destruction of the secular state of Libya, the military coup in Honduras, and the present attempt at “regime change” in Syria. Every one of these situations has resulted in more extremism, more chaos in the world, and more danger to our country. Next will be the borders of Russia, China, and Iran. Look at the viciousness of her recent AIPAC speech (don’t say you haven’t been warned). Can we really bear to watch as Clinton “takes our alliance [with Israel] to the next level”? Where is our sense of proportion? Cannot the media, at the least, call her out on this extremism? The problem, I think, is this political miasma of “correctness” that dominates American thinking (i.e. Trump is extreme, therefore Hillary is not).

The only thing Hillary can cheer about is that she hasn't gone to jail. As a matter of fact she even stated so when she bragged that she hadn't been prosecuted for any of her corrupt dealings. She is as corrupt as they come, a whore of wall street, a puppet of overseas dictators and has nothing to show for all the years she has been hanging on to her husbands boot straps. She does not care for human rights, women's rights (she was all for turning those butchers lose from Git mo and when asked about the women of Afghanistan and Pakistan being in danger she gave the same answer when Americans were killed because of her, "What difference does it make.") And she has never condemned her husband for his sexual assaults, etc. Instead she used the Arkansas State Police as her private storm troopers and threatened them. And she threatened any woman who dared say anything. She didn't pay her own female staff the same pay as male's make.) Her own staff says she has a hard time remembering things and has no idea what security or proper handling of a high office. (True her FBI which like the IRS and the Home Land Security are her and Obama's private black shirts) stop any investigations into her possible treason. She and her family stole funds that were to go to Haiti (which the Clinton's have turned into their very own slave plantation). Recently in New York they were bragging that the former President chose his office in Harlem. Well, he did that when he got burned wanting to put his office in the most expensive Wall Street area. So he picked Harlem to get the heat off his back. He no more cares for equal rights than Obama does. No one on here has really listed anything she has done for the good of the nation and the world. She was a backer of the PLO and like Obama is a booth kisser to dictators and abandons those allies who have always stood by us.

She Trump and the Gov. of Ohio have all been on the pay roll of Soros. They owe their political lives to him and not to the people of the U. S.

Guess you're really not going to be a happy camper here in a couple of weeks. ;)
