Try right clicking on the unwanted icons.
You should get a list of options.
Click on delete. Answer yes to next question.
This will get rid of the icon only.
(It goes in your recycle bin.)

To get rid of the unwanted programs,
consult your local computer guru.
She should be able to tell you how to
unload those programs.

Also you might want to wait and talk
to her anyway, just in case I'm wrong.
