Should we start a thread in the SRP for this sort of thing before we get "spanked" again?

I've seen role playing threads in this forum before though. Not ones started by me and not even new ones. They were okay or at least I saw no cease and desist orders on them. It's all a bit confusing.

Personally I tend to be flirtatious, and prone to fun. That doesn't mean I'm not also authentic and "real." As to looking for attention, um, I guess that's true but who isn't?

*scratches head*

I want to be a good girl, really, I do. (My head hurts now.)

Marquis has a great new AV. :catroar:

And I never know if it's alright to be posting AV compliments on the threads where one sees the AV...

Ummm... I am flying cross country in a few days...

as My friends, can you please refrain from using the word hijack??????

moved from another thread ...

Well, then...can we start another thread to pester the troll with? It's fun!:D

Ohhh ummn, why yes, beat my guest DVS ?

I am just going to go stand in the corner and look innocent though, m'kay .

speaking of hijacks, I have a confession to make.

Everytime miss rebecca posts a library thread and says DO NOT POST, I just want to post. I really really really really really want to post. Really.

Heaven knows I try ...

I did a bit of googling to learn about the situation here in the U.S. As part of an extensive Q&A on the subject of Indian identification and rights, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (an agency of the U.S. government) describes it this way:

"Most tribal governments are organized democratically, that is, with an elected leadership. The governing body is generally referred to as a "council" and comprised of persons elected by vote of the eligible adult tribal members. The presiding official is the "chairman," although some tribes use other titles such as "principal chief," "president" or "governor." An elected tribal council, recognized as such by the
Secretary of the Interior, has authority to speak and act for the tribe and to represent it in negotiations with Federal State, and local governments. Tribal governments generally define conditions of membership, regulate domestic relations of members, prescribe rules of inheritance for reservation property not in trust status, levy taxes, regulate property under tribal jurisdiction, control conduct of members by tribal ordinances, and administer justice."

I could find no mention of "elders" in the Bureau's piece. However, according to the Cherokee Nation website, the "Tribal Council consists of Tribal Elders and State Clan Chiefs."

Assuming that the "council" referred to on the Cherokee site equates to the "councils" mentioned by the Bureau, it appears that Tribal Elders in the U.S. wield tangible political power over other members of the Indian nations they represent. All of this explains Dove's comments: "i receive tribal funding, and funeral pyre rights. And in doing so; since i do not live on the reservation; i have to follow certain rules that the Elders have put into law for all of us that do not live there. Unless i want to take the chance of having my funding taken away; and more importantly for me; the right to be allowed to have my soul sent up to the Greater Spirits through use of the funeral pyre."

Thank you for the link and the information Mr Mohegan, I really appreciate it and intend on reading it again a little later in my evening. I do have to wonder if I am missing something however. Did something go over my head, it did , didn't it : smileslaughsighs :

'250 tribal languages are still spoken' amazed me in good way. Makes me curious to see how many indigenous dialects are still being used here. A gentleman I spoke to at Christmas , who is an indigenous dancer & story teller fringed this topic, apparently I didn't retain the information.
