High Five: I got a GREEN E

Congrats. I saw the GM Green E go up today, but your essay hadn't posted yet.

Congratulations. I'd say you received the "Green E" because you deserved it.

Keep up the good work.

Still have no idea how to get one of those.

I see a lot of Es in tandem with W and Hs, but I also see plenty of Es that are lonely.

Never received one.

I have one, and its like my lowest scoring story (and my longest at 10K words), and my least read.

I erred. The Green E rates a little higher than the story I sold to a slasher movie producer; its a lesbian vampire story.

Congrats

Now be warned. The green E is a bulls eye on your story and you've now doubled the chances of bombing with this thread.

So just be prepared.

You have to write a story that catches laurels' eye and that she enjoys. The E is "editor's choice" and we only have one editor.

If you get one cool. In the meantime be happy with your many Red H's and very high scores. That means a lot of people enjoyed your story.

That tired old grasp for something you don't have--claimed just so that you can pooh pooh having them. JAMESBJOHNSON has no Green Es here. If you wish to make the claim that you have one in an alt, identify it. Otherwise, you ain't got one, buddy, and you can put your sour grapes about them where the sun don't shine. Can you get more sleazy and needy than this? (Knowing you, probably)

I wondered how long it would take the buzzards who don't have Green Es to start trying to clip the edges off of the enjoyment by an author when he/she gets one. (Not long.)

I think I'll take faves over the icons though. E means you turned Laurel on today and made her private stroke list, which is nice in itself, but means little. W for contests is as bogus as it comes and we all know that. Scores go up and down like a toilet seat, which makes H's a somewhat good idea to strive for if the trolls don't kill you, but fave's are pure un-adulterated proof you have fans and are that good.

Two bottom lines here. Laurel is the only one who processes through all of the stories and she's one of the site owners. Catching her attention and getting a Green E is a big deal. Those who claim otherwise are mostly sour grapes posters who don't have one. The other bottom line is that it's the only superlative here that can't be manipulated by trolls. So, of course, the trolls don't like it and come out to try to dump water on those understandably expressing their joy at getting one. I think anyone reading this thread can guess who is who in this divide.

Way to go on this Green E, Little--and to the GM author who got one today as well (on a first chapter, so these might keep coming. The author I know of who has the most has them all for multiple parts of a single story.)

I agree. I have 2 W's but they came after I was on well over 1200 favs and it was my fans voting the story up regardless of what they thought of it.

I think the fav author and how many fav a story are good indicators of how well a story can do-but of course based on category. 20 favs in one category would be great, in incest a flop.

I'll also take all time top lists as some indicator. Although fan base obviously effects that. Then again the fan bases are earned and some benefit should come from them.

I agree with SR that a green E is a special feather in one's cap, no matter if it paints a bullseye... Congrats!

Great job Show. If ever you doubted your writing, the editor's choice should help relieve some of that pressure.

Keep up the good work.

You usually do. Quite often as a matter of fact. Suspiciously often as a matter of fact;)

I think someone needs to slip Lovecraft some tranquilizers--or at least hand him a napkin to clear away that foam coming out of his mouth this evening. :D
