I got a question. After I write a story. How long should I wait before I edit it? this has always been a big issue of mine. Plus, I never really edit the story before I send it to a story site. I guess thats why my stories are made fun of. I'm looking for help.

Honestly? Your best bet is to find someone to edit it for you, rather than do it yourself. For one, you're generally going to be too close to the story to be an effective editor. Two: your grammar needs help (you don't "got" a question; you have a question).

i completely agree with cloudy, you have to have a fresh set of eyes look over your work before you submit it. good luck!

In my mind I want to get stories into circulation as soon as possible, but not prematurely. In other words, don't rush so that an error-filled product is out there. But don't refine to the point where the product is outdated either.

It sounds to me you're hesitating because you fear criticism, but this is just me and I may be wrong.

What I would sincerely suggest is to locate an editor you're comfortable with who can give you their assessment in private, never placing you at risk of embarrassment and allowing a more experienced person to judge and assist.

Just my thoughts.

It's best to let it sit overnight before doing any sort of final review. (Wouldn't hurt to read it over once right after you've drafted it, though.)
