Hi, cholesterol. Bye, meals I knew.

Your Doctor is a quack. Your numbers are pretty good. Ignore him and just get off your fat ass and do some exercise, preferably in the form of work.

Eat no fast foods at all, that will be enough to fix any issues.

Obviously, you've misread me again: I posted "sweepthefloor"...

...not "redheadedtexan".

But, be advised:

Ever the pro, she demands "cash up front".

The credit card was to pay for the hotel.

I'm sure she is a professional NURSE, and not any other kind of "pro".

I know me, I simply won't do it. I'll just skip the meal. I don't like food enough to go through the effort.

I've gone into StarBucks and similar places to order a large coffee. They start insisting I order it in Fretalian. I just leave. I ain't learning a new language to order a damn cup of coffee. If I don't drink one for a few days, my world will not end. I am an American, born in America, living in America, and see no reason to jump through hoops to order a large coffee. I expect to go in, say "Large coffee, please", get it and pay them. Then stand there and watch the painful process of them trying to figure out the change. That is stressful enough. If it gets beyond that, there is another coffee shop down the street. Always.

I don't know what coffee has to do with it, but I gather from the first paragraph that you're either too stubborn or too stupid to adapt. Which is it?

Mine was yesterday so I missed having a candle in the pumpkin pie this year. Now its your turn! Happy birthday! (from the gang in the foodie thread)

Oooh...pi pie!

Neither. I just don't find food worth the effort. I really have to work at remembering to eat three times a day. Probably part of the reason I only weigh 145 lbs.

Another part is that I do like to do physical exercise. I can spend hours in the gym, going from machine to machine. Or ride my Trikke for an hour or more, listening to music.

Like everyone else, I tend to do what is pleasant and easy. It has to be worth the effort. I don't generally find food to be worth much effort. Which is something I think "foodies" just can't get.

I've met people who are horrified that I drink water with my meals. They "can't" eat a meal with just water. Oddly, I never try to tell them what they should drink. I just put them on "ignore".

And I still can't believe it is that difficult to find a place to buy acceptable food, given the number of people with high cholesterol.

Corn and potatoes ain't veggies?

True. Corn is a grain and the potato is a tuber.

Well, if it's neither of those things then you're just lazy because cooking really isn't that much effort.

I just skimmed over this but what I got was that the OP is told he has to eat better or die and he doesn't want to eat better because it requires effort so he'd rather just die from what could very possibly be a horribly painful heart attack but only after several years of chest pains and other ailments due to his clogged arteries.

"You are correct, sir!"

Not actually. Nobody said I was going to die. They just said my cholesterol was high. Not extremely or anything, I posted the numbers, they are a bit up from what the doc would like, except for the triglycerides, where I am doing very well.

So I am looking for how to eat a bit better to bring it down. Not looking to dedicate my life to food.

Aw, whatsamatter? Can't build yourself up any other way than putting other people down on the Internet? (Which, by the way, is cowardly)

I'll re-read your posts to see if you contributed anything useful. Some how I suspect you are on your way to joining the Big I club. It makes the Lit. board so much more pleasant.

Agreed.
Butterfly a chicken breast and throw it on the grill with a bunch of asparagus. Make a salad, and dinner is ready.

Real oatmeal takes 7 minutes to prepare. Much to my amazement, I discovered I actually like the stuff.

My oatmeal recipe,
Cut one apple peeled or unpeeled your choice, I like a sour granny smith
Measure the oats and liquid I use half water and milk add a quarter cup more liquid
throw in the apple oats and liquid and cook
while cooking cut a banana and wait
after oatmeal is cooked throw in the banana and stir
wait five minutes, put in a bowl add honey.

And the beauty of this is you can make three or four days worth at a time, scoop out when needed and nuke it. Just add a little more water each time you cook it.

How does this sound:

Grilled chicken
lettuce
cheese
wrapped in a tortilla

That's a Wendy's Go Wrap, I had them hold the sauce. $1.49

I knew there had to be items that would work.

What about smoothies? I know the Dr. said no ice cream, that got me wondering about smoothies. And frozen yogurt? Something that seems like a dessert.

It's not a put-down. It's an observation.
