Welcome.
Nude vs naked? Both are sans clothing. Purists may disagree, but I lean toward nudity being by choice and nakedness being something has less choice in. Nudity need not imply sexuality, to my mind.
As a nudist, I'm leaning toward your definition, although it's not so much choice as circumstance. Nakedness implies a state where not being clothed is exceptional. Nudity can be a normal state of affairs, though.
Consider Joni Mitchell's line in "Urge for Going:" "Naked trees are standing in a shivering row." "Nude trees" would not be appropriate here, because she's stressing the difference in the season where trees were formerly all in leaf, and suddenly they aren't.
In a nudist environment, not being clothed is accepted as an appropriate way to be. I am nude there, or when I'm puttering around the house with no clothes on. A child without clothes would be nude there, but would be naked in an environment where being unclothed is taboo.
And I agree that nudism isn't about sexuality. The false equivalence comes mainly from our societal taboos on nakedness except in the course of preparing for or having sex, or for purposes of using nakedness as a sexual stimulation for selling products. I'm writing an essay on that subject which I'll be posting soon.
