According to Arthur Herbert (see memo at right), Assistant Director of Enforcement Programs and Services at the ATF,

any person who uses or is addicted to marijuana, regardless of whether his or her State has passed legislation authorizing marijuana use of medicinal purposes, is an unlawful user or addicted to a controlled substance, and is prohibited by Federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition

and will be compelled to admit the prescribed use of medical marijuana on ATF forms at the point of purchase.

Feds: Medical Marijuana Patients Have No Right to Second Amendment

And you thought Operation Fast and Furious was just a bunch of smoke...

I thought pot was not addictive.

That's right you potheads you can't smoke a fatty and own a gun but it's cool to get liquored up and go shootn. Whoopie.

Fortunately, most of us potheads don't want to own a gun in the first place. We're a fairly peaceful group of citizens.

Pass it over...

So we don't need the 2nd Amendment...

...and don't really care about anyone else's constitutional rights

Got ya...

Pot rots your brain, the Oblamer czars coming up with this shit lived on it while in the SDS.

You need to live the straightedge life like me, peeps...no illegal drugs, no drinking and no smoking. Life is much better that way.

and most of you peeps thought it was cool when the family doc asked the kids if there was a gun in the house.

Hey, come on, man, guns are fascinating! Like, dig those rifling grooves in the barrel! I could stare at that for hours! (Hey, dude, puff-puff-pass!)

Zoloft and such are mind altering, users need to be banned from 2nd Amendment also.

I'm not up on all the laws, but aren't there generally provisions regarding mental health? Zoloft is used for depression and a few other things like ptsd.

and can cause suicidal thoughts. If a court has found you mentally incompetent, you cannot own a firearm.

Makes perfect sense to me. As you know, I'm seriously anti-gun-control, but if you're a danger to yourself or others, I think it's reasonable to keep long-distance killing devices out of your hands as much as possible.

Those laws exist, this is just an attempt to chip away at the 2nd. Of course people don't care till it affects them.

Gonna question this. I've definitely been sitting around a campfire after I field-cleaned something with a rifle on my back passing a joint around 4 other guys with guns. I think these cultures can cross over more then you think.

pot is whack

That's crack you're thinking of.

Marijuana is addictive.
[begin indoctrinated hippie autoresponse] Marijuana has never been proven to be chemically addictive. The main ingredient of cannibus, THC, is a neurotransmitter that causes a release of dopamine into the synapses. This causes a calming effect, which can do all kinds of helpful medical shit, and if you don't need it, like a lot of drugs, can get you shitfaced. Chemically it's not addictive.

But I'm an American, goddamn it. I don't need something sissy like a chemical to tell me what I can and can't be addicted to. If I listened to science on the subject of smoking shit, I sure as hell wouldn't still be puffing down ciggies to calm my nictonic receptors- it says right on the box, "This product, if used as directed, will kill you dead." I can get addicted to bacon cheddar burgers and shamrock shakes if I want to. So though you can't get chemically addicted, you can get psychologically addicted. Especially if you already have an addictive personality and are prone to addictions.

Back to the main topic, speaking as someone who's shot sober (twitchy) on prescription medication for nerves specifically for shooting (clonazapan) and good old grass, and I liked the weed better. Nerve pills slow me down to much, make take the edge off completely. You can't do that when you're lining site- you need perfect timing.

Check out the video "Pleasure Unwoven." It lays out the science of addiction. Shows how even behavior can be physically addictive. You're on it with the dopamine. That's just part of it though...

A hunter?!? You are dead to me now...

Still saying that the truth is: Pot makes you stupid, unmotivated, and helps you to escape reality. Clear your mind and wake up. If you have a medical condition that pot helps with, then there should be no problem with using it. My thoughts are to the typical pot head who just wants to get high and "mellow out". Drinking is just as bad though.

I was comparing it to medication that I'm supposed to be on- I've tested it against several different types of meds- *sigh*

I also wouldn't advise having a loaded gun while drunk. I've never done it, but I just don't think it'd be a good idea.
