Hey, lets all write a soppy poem,
On each and every day;
Full of lurve and mushy goop
In every clichéd way.

I’ve tried to ask so nicely.
We’ve tried to be polite,
But all you do is argue,
Declare your rights and fight.

So keep your gushings private;
Resist the urge to share.
Keep it sweet, between you two,
‘Cos really, we don’t care.

I’m sure you’ll think I’m nasty,
But you see, I’ve had enough.
So please stop hogging half the board,
With self indulgent stuff.

That really was so wonderful,
You really are so sweet.
My pride in you is boundless,
When you twist your knife so deep.

I’m moved to emulate our friends,
In masturbatory verse,
And ensure the world takes notice,
Of our maunderings, perverse.

Saccharine yet foetid;
I’ll declaim for all to see,
My emotion best left private,
And given dignity.

Hoping everyone who sees it,
Is assured it’s deep and true.
If they’re convinced, it must be so,
Thus I’ll believe it too.

Smirchy smoochy smirchy
Love hitting like a birchy
Squish squash splash - o-ho!
Letting it out, oh no!

Commentary is quite unnecessary
when trying to tolerate florid expressions of love,
if intolerant thee be, then get gone ye
and note the "x" located to the right of your window above.

lara

P.S. Yeah, i've got a toothache too, but it wasn't equivalent to a needle in the eye which often requires an ejaculatory "quit it!"

Hi Lara, haven't seen you around for ages. Perhaps a browse over nearly all the threads over the past month or so might give you a clue to the point of this thread.

Intolerance no, annoyance yes. I like to browse through lots of threads, but it's becoming impossible to do so here without being caught up in this public forum jerkoff routine. It's permeating almost every topic than anyone brings up.

I do not have a flair for rhyme,
Still, I will try it this one time:

When I see things like the above, I often ponder
What frequently makes you a harsh responder
Why are your comments so abrasive,
Your negativity this pervasive?

I don't adore the lovey-doveyness either,
But when I see it I try to take a breather.
'This is a place we can all express ourselves,' I recall,
And it's nice when doing so within the rules is accepted by all.

I do not appreciate it when people are cruel;
It'd be lovely if we all tried to practice the Golden Rule,
Considering how those spoken about might feel,
When their words are attacked with so much zeal.

If you're going to try to flame me for this,
Perhaps you should know any harsh words will miss,
I'd rather you give thinking a fresh start,
And begin acting with an open mind and bigger heart. :)

Oh, what have I missed while lazing all day, yet again, in bed with the Dominant One? :D Sugar and spice are nice, but hopefully kept in the Cafe...serious discussion I love, but hopefully in Talk. And as we all know, love is what makes the world go 'round! :cathappy:

Catalina

Hi to you both. i've been lurking, working on the library; dodging the love-in.

i've seen the threads and while they're numerous and the lovey dovey comments seem to creep into lots of threads, i can't say they have hindered my ability to sift through them. After the 50th dedication to "He" thread, i put the posters on mental ignore -- i also don't have the patience to hear all of that day in and day out. i find lots of on topic threads completely derailed by this formula:

on topic discussion+off topic lovefest=bickering between posters

So yes, it's a bit irritating from both ends.

I don't find the lovey dovey talk any more or less annoying than the exchange of cookies that would happen halfway down any thread...

i don't begrudge people their right to annoy me... i just skim over the posts and respond to whatever I feel like.

but i also think your poems are hilarious so far, and would love to see more.

Thanks, Chicklet. I haven't been moved to write a poem since high school & now I've had my little rant the urge has left me again LOL.

Of course I expected lots of tut, tut, tutting & how could you? s from those more PC correct than I, but honestly, I expect there is also a lot of private head nodding happening too. It's not so much the content, which is usually easily skipped over, but the overwhelming, all encompassing volume of it, that is annoying.

When I'm busy, I tend to not have time to browse the forums, and will just check on threads I've subscribed to.

But I am finding those poems hilarious! :D

Hi Lara It is good to see you post and see your lovely AV again.

Chicklet ~ Go wash your mouth out with (ahhh fuck I am not allowed to say 'cookies') 'C' crumbs!!!!

As for the lovey dovey stuff, I don't even see those threads any more. ADR told me all about the ignore button

(However my prediction for shy is that in 2007 is she is going to be more of a bitch and more cantankerous than ever seen before).

Hi shy, it's always good to see you in high spirits. *smiles*

Oh my, what to say
my mind seems to get smaller every day
I really must agree with you
but then again I do in every way

I hate mushy and goopy stuff too
Oh yes, i'll admit it, I do
but though it may make me mad
I try to be nice each day, it's true

And those searing words can make one sad
And put down so much you feel bad
and they can really bite
almost like some new fad

So i pick and choose my fight
Not just throw around my might
But if you say "jump"
I say, "yeah right"

I hope this is more then just a bump
And for it I do not get a thump
but it's really not a treat
to fin out who uses a pump

Now, my poem can be beat
cus it didn't master any feat
But I feel this makes good poetry
in it's near perfect a-symetry
