It'd fulfill your requriement of being in a relatively small place (compared to some of the cities nearby) - a suburban community growing larger. It puts you an hour or less from Washington DC and 1 1/2 hours or less from Baltimore.

But I've never been further east than Idaho, and that was Western Idaho, Moscow...Lewiston..Potlatch....

True, true, and if I make enough internet friends I'll be able to go see it and not spend a lot of time in campgrounds and hotels!
