Nope. I'm not a member of the Academy (though I have friends who are, and I get to see their "For Your Consideration" tapes, which is cool). (And contray to what most people think, the Academy members are fairly young and hip.)
I did get to nominate for the SAG award a couple of years back, and that was fun. I suddenly had an excuse to go out and see a hundred movies.
I had a friend who got to vote on the Emmys one year, and dearly wanted to finally give Susan Lucci a statue, but concluded that she just isn't the best actress out there. She won anyway, I think -- but at least my friend voted his conscience, and not his heart.
