Hey, DCL.

Easy. None of the cards are the same. They've all been changed. by asking you to pick only one, they're distracting you from paying attention to what the rest of the cards are. Try it again and pay attention to the suit of all the rest of the cards. All they do is change them.

edited because the suit change theory is correct.

David Coperfield used to do the same thing with cards on your tc screen. It was neat and floored me when I was a kid.

PS. That man is spooky as shit in real life. He rarely blinks. It's unnerving.

I'm not DCL, but it is about card removal.

All of them to be exact.

Well DUH to me.

Yeah, shoulda gone to the first day of class, I might learn something.

My schedule's screwed up, honest.

It was explained above. All the cards are removed, including yours. It doesn't matter which one you pick. I have this trick on my own web site, and so do a lot of magicians.

I'll do a trick below that always works in person, though I don't know that it will work on line. Let's see...give me a minute to prepare my thoughts...stick around...

That's okay. Your professor is probably too busy surfing the net to go to class anyway.

Many magicians carry around a card with that printed. On the back is printed the answer you clicked to. Most people have a tendancy to pick that number. It has to do with the immediacy of being face to face and having to make a quick decision. 9 times out of 10 I can amaze someone. But, like I said, it may not work on the net, and probably won't. The Net is too distancing. There's too much time to contemplate and consider, and too many other things to read and distract you.

Make a card of your own and try it. It works.

DCL, I get a screen that says, "Invalid thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the webmaster." what's supposed to happen?

The link went to a thread on another Forum, probably with a moderator who didn't know what the hell it was, and deleted it without asking me about it. Doesn't matter. All it said was "I knew you'd pick 3". Most people (when presented with the card face to face) will pick 3.

People rarely pick the extremes, therefore, 1 and 4 are ruled out.
It also might interest you to know that on multiple-choice tests C is typically the most common answer.
