Hey Nic, Gil, Yummy,Wicked and Cloak,

Thankyou for your welcome messages,

This is my first time on a forum so if I make any feux pas please be gentle.

I guess I should say what I want, what I really, realy want out of this.

For simply ages, I have been a sci-fi and fantasy fan. My two favorite sci-fi authors are a guy called Dave Eddings and Terry Brooks. In addition to these I like Robert Holdstock (check out his great web site http://www.mythago.tuatha.org/) and also Richard Laymon and ofcourse fellow New Englander, Stephen King.

Not that it is any one particular authors fault but there seems to be a bias to male heros and female lesser herorines in most stories. I would like to write a novel with a feminine slant, erotic and adult in nature without being debasing.

I am really interested in what other people think about this and I am considering starting a Female Fantasy Herorine thread.

In reply to Gil's request I have posted a couple of pics, but it's not my intention to seek out sexual partners - I am just looking for friends and people who share an interest in erotic writing and fantasy. I am happily involved and also expecting my first child in June :)

You are one sexy Lady...

I Love the Photo,
I would Love to see more...Yes I have been to your site and Loved all the PICS there too...

Please put me down as interested in being YOUR pen-pal...

Enjoy Dave...:) ;) :p

Female heroine

Snork maiden,
I think I have read everything Eddings has written, but if you are looking for a females heroine(s), read Robert Jordans "Wheel of Time". Several females characters in heroic roles. Only problem is, I have been reading Wheel of Time for ten years now and Jordan still has not finished story.

Nice Pic Very attractive to my eyes

Hope to see more of you. Welcum to the boards

learnsome

wheel of time

Hey Gray Beard,

I did try to read some of Jordan's books way back but found them difficult to get into. Maybe at the time I was concentrating too much on my studies. I am the sort of person that likes to pick up a book and read it cover to cover in one sitting.

I had a similar problem with Stephen King's 'Talisman', although when I finally got into it - (on the third attempt) I found it settled into a reasonably good flowing book. Perhaps I should give 'The Wheel' another go.

Your pics do it for me

Hi snork maiden thanks for the pics of you but I think we would ALL like to see the beautiful goodies beneath the clothing.
Iy would also be great to know shat your sexual desires are so we can kkep this thread running.
WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK? Should this beauty post more pics with more flesh showing?:rose:  :D

Hello there!

Just wanted to say welcome to the boards - I'm another newbie and so many people were kind enough with a welcome I'd like to carry on the tradition.

Regarding female heroes - you're right in saying that there is a bias but then hasn't there always been? I'm happy to note, though, that even tho it's taking entirely too long for things to shift, it is happening and certainly more so in our time that that of our parents and theirs.

Have you read any Marion Zimmer Bradley? She takes the Arthurian legends and views them from the female perspective which is really the power behind the throne. The main book is Mists of Avalon. Also, Ayn Rand's books Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead - the primary characters are male AND female - each taking (what I consider to be) an equal role as the hero. Hers aren't fantasy, more philosophy really, but ouch - powerful stuff.

I'm always looking for new reads so pass on any suggestions you might have...look forward to seeing you around...

welcum

Welcum to lit, Maiden. Great pics. What a sexy, beautiful lady you are. Can't wait to more of your lucious body.

You sure are a pretty lady, Snork Maiden. Lots to do here. Let me know if you need a guide around the boards. Always willing to lend a hand... wherever you need it!

Thankyou Everyday and Red Boxers for your welcomes.

I don't know if there has always been a bias, certainly we studied some of the english classics whilst I was at college. Shakespeare often had strong leading female character's in his plays for example Portia in Merchant of Venice. (Who ironically had to dress a man to fullfill her role). The Brontes and Arnold Bennett often used leading female characters as well. Dicken's Great Expectations Miss Haversham is another example of a Matriachal Herorine. It is interesting to note that strong literary female characters appear to be more prevalent when there was a female monarch on the throne.

The beauty of Fantasy Fiction is its surreal and unquantifiable nature.

Personally I think a Sorceress commands a much more powerful image in the mind than a Sorcerer. This may come through from Fairy Tales where often a it is a female who plays the victim and also the villian. Take Cinderella, an almost totally female cast with a beautiful down trodden young girl, and a evil step mother.

Or Snow White, again the luckless child of a kind Mother who dies and is replaced with an evil scheming Step Mother.

I am sure there are other example too numerous to quote.

It is interesing reading some of the erotica here too. Is the woman really in charge in many of the tales or merely manipulated. Not really the lead character, but the central object of gratification.

BTW - I'm not a feminist just in case anyone was wondering - I am totally gurl, machiavalian in my approach to life and enjoying everything I can get :)

Oppsie,

Thanks too, to RagingBull, I will bear you kind offer in mind I am sure I am going to need some pointers somewhere down the line.

Snork Maiden, you're a very beautiful woman. According to what I read, you're also knowledgeable and wise. Those are all good qualities.

Do not post any naked photo, it wouldn't be nice. But, post normal ones, I am sure everybody will enjoy your beauty (and your smile).

Congratulations for your qualities, as well as for your relationship and your future baby :)

Hi, Snork Maiden. Welcome to the boards.

Have you read much of Anne McCaffrey or Mercedes Lackey? They both write about female heroines in the sci-fi/fantasy genre. They're two of my favorite authors. I've read quite a bit of Dave Eddings as well.

Again, welcome and don't let these guys badger you.

howdy

Hell snorky, you're absolutely delicious, thats for sure. Why is it you had to be all the way across the pond? I'm brand new here too, and I'm just hoping that there are others here locally as enticing and utterly devine as you are! :)

Enjoy yourself...

XOXOXO

kind comments

Thankyou unregistered.

Yes absolutely.

I do appreciate the flattery (what girl doesn't), but respect is an even greater compliment.

Someone once taught me that respect is easy to lose and very hard to gain.

Respect is not given, but as a earned though effort, honesty and trust.

Part of that is respecting one's self. I won't post any nude pics here as part of that philosophy, but I am happy to post bikini and clothed shots.

I am much more interested in peoples view on heroines in Fantasy Fiction, ideas etc.

Thankyou again

you're right. Respect is something very important. Respect for oneself, repect for our values, respect for others, respect for life and so on

Anne McCaffery

Hey LipstickKitten

Thanks for you welcome,

No I haven't read any Anne McCaffery - but I am checking out her site.

Strangely Seeing her site instantly brought back memories of reading Tracy Hickman's and Margaret Weis' Dragonlance Chronicles - Those I really did enjoy and inspired many hours of role playing at college I always saw myself as a Goldmoon character :) arrrrghhh.

No but seriously there was a good balance of characters there. As I mentioned a way back or maybe not I also really enjoyed Terry Brooks' 'Shanara' books.
