The city was dark the night had already fallen and all the good people were home asleep or spending the night reconnecting with their loved ones, Outcast city was a dark place to live in and the people walking about now were by no means innocence. The seedy under belly of society was out in full force tonight greed and lust giving them the courage to face the cities new “protector”.

The man felt the van pull up and blew out one last slow breath, he double checked and rechecked his calculations thinking about every last variable one more time. He finally nodded pleased with every thing and smacked the side of the van signaling his fellow crew to open the door.

They did so and he stepped out brushing his black business suit off and pulling on the mask he was holding, while most super villains wanted to dress up in flashy outfits Megwatt didn’t condone such silly practices. Instead he wore a simple black suit cut against his body to showcase his muscular torso and a simple black diamond mask rimmed with red. It left his face in plain view though his handsome face that was muscular and defined, he had black hair but kept it short buzzing it as much as possible to that he didn’t leave a stay hair or any evidence behind.

“Time” Megawatt snapped walking to the front of the bank and nodding at his crew.

“Ten seconds in boss” one of his crew said shouldering the duffel bag and walking with him.

“Every second is another one she can show up so lets move it people” Megawatt snapped going to the key pad lock, he pulled off his gloves and reached out sparks collecting at the tip of his fingers and arching out over the electric pad, he closed his eyes focusing and using just enough power to make it look like a guard was opening the door and not blowing the pad.

The green light beeped and the door hissed as it unsealed and opened, he opened the door quickly all but dragging his crew in before closing it behind him. The crew moved quickly going about their roles with an accomplished ease of highly trained professional. By the time Megawatt got to the vault the alarms had been dealt with and all the security footage was taken care of.

“Hello beautiful” Megawatt said smiling and reaching out with one hand to touch the giant vault door. She was a beauty to with all the latest security that made her impenetrable.

To bad most of that security was electronic in nature

“Set up all the defenses” Megawatt called pulling off his gloves again “If she comes we need to be ready for her were three minutes in and we got two left people” He called out before reaching out with both hands, electricity built up along his hands arching out of his finger tip and hitting the vault door.

Outcast City was no place for a good cop. With the whole system beholden to greed and corruption, it was almost impossible to do any job that would resemble a normal cop. The captain knew everything going on in his city, but with his higher ups condoning and perpetrating evil and his subordinates accomplices to that, it was almost impossible to do anything.

From his window, he saw a van, quite out of place. And then people poured out. Armed men. He quickly picked up his phone and dialed the only number he knew who could help. That was Megawatt and there was no one else who could take him down. Not when he was smart enough to take him and his small force down. At least those who still had the heart to do good.

If it was his way, he wouldn't rely on something outside the law to take care of this, but he didn't have a choice. Not especially since he didn't know who he was.

Leila picked up her phone and got the details that she needed. Megawatt. That man never refused to give up! She suited up in her tight spandex two piece, her bottom were like boyshorts panties with a matching tanktop that only came to her midriff. Her fit thigh-high boots were soft and thin allowing her to move quickly. Just like that, she was Starwind.

She ran quickly to the scene and surveyed the area, before showing up on top of them.

"I'm seriously getting tired of this, Megawatt. We need to stop meeting like this." She grinned ready to fight at the slightest provocation. Hopefully, he wasn't doing anything that needed taking care of. But it didn't look that way.

She lounged easily, but she was alert and wary.

Megawatt scowled hearing her voice and resisting the urge he had to throttle her, it wouldn’t do any good she was hard to kill.

But it sure as hell would make him feel better

“Hello princess” Megawatt said dryly as the lock clicked and swung open “ I thought you might be coming” he said turning to her nodding at the men he had stationed.

When dealing with his old foe it was best to bring as much fire power as physically possible, his men saw his nod and laser began appearing criss crossing over to her body as the men he stationed with his powered sniper rifles took aim.

The other men cranked the light machine guns they had, aiming down the sights at her, they set up in a formation around the steps leading to the bank vaults forming a good enough pattern that they could fill her with bullets the minute she stepped forward.

None of this would kill her but it would slow her down enough to make his escape, the others would keep her busy like the plan called for but if he wanted to get the money to he would need to act quickly.

“I’m afraid I can’t stay and chat” Megawatt said stepping back into the bank vault “even with a girl as beautiful as you” he taunted nodding at the others to open fire as he blasted the door with electricity, it began to close the emergency locks activating.

As Starwind expected, he did not have any good intentions to begin with. Unfortunately for him, she was ready for his usual antics. She jumped into action, dodging and using his own men as a shield when they shot at her. She was holding out pretty well, but she knew she couldn't keep this up and save the bank at the same time.

Knowing that she couldn't stop him like this, she grabbed one of them and used him as a shield as she ran into the bank to stop Megawatt.

"Megawatt!"

She took one of her knives and threw it at him, sticking his sleeve to the wall. She dropped her human shield and ran toward Megawatt, ready to punch him. She stopped as someone took a shot at her shoulder. She growled and took the bullet out with her fingers. The wound closed quickly. It was painful but she needed to do it.

Because of that delay, she was quickly surrounded, but at least Megawatt was there before her. It was going to be easier that way. Right now, all she had to do was take the boss down and she knew the rest would follow. It was like cutting the head off a Hydra.

"You could tell them to back down before they all start shooting each other."

“Looks like you got me” Megawatt said holding up his hands, the others nodded and stepped back putting their weapons down. They were inside the vault now the money so close he could taste it.

And just where he wanted to be

“I guess its no shock to you that you beat me” Megawatt said flexing his palms, electricity coursed through them arching out and slamming into her forcing her back as it coursed through her body. His powers weren’t enough to kill her but they would shock her body enough that he could begin phase two.

He sent out one last strong burst and kicked her back; he and the others acted quickly grabbing small little masks and securing them onto their face. The second the last mask was secured thick pink gas began coming into the room filling it and seeping into her nose.

“Even this should be enough to keep you out Starwind” Alex said nodding at the others to begin grabbing the money he grabbed a shotgun form one of his men and turned pointing it at her just for good measure.

You never could be to careful when it came to super heros

Starwind looked around baffled. She had never thought Megawatt to give up just like that. She looked around wary of them feeling a trap springing. But just as she turned her attention back toward Megawatt, he blasted her with electricity sending her flying toward a wall.

It knocked the wind out of her and she groaned in pain. She got on all fours trying to stand but he shocked her again and felt his foot connect with her stomach, sending her back all over again.

While she healed quite easily, she was certainly not impervious to pain. And right now, she was in a world of it. She was certainly no Superman like those in the comic books. She was certainly more human. Her head rang and her ears felt like it was stopped with wool.

She shook her head and looked at everyone donning on masks. She squinted peering at them and grabbed the gun inside her thigh. She smelled something and she growled. This was not turning out to be good. But before she could draw her gun, Megawatt pointed at gun at her. Her head felt so stuffed and she was starting realize what she was smelling.

Glaring past the barrel at Megawatt, she let her hand drop from the weapon between her thighs. For the first time, Megawatt owned her. Her head felt more and more stuffed as she inhaled more of the gas until she felt dizzy and uncoordinated before blacking out completely.

“Wow” Megawatt said looking at the super heroine and chuckling “I can’t believe that actually worked” he called earning a chuckle from his crew as they loaded the money into bags and began carting them out.

“What should I do about you?” Megawatt murmured keeping the gun level at her head as he kicked her and rolled her over. He hadn’t expected to knock her out but he certainly wasn’t one to look a gift horse in the mouth. He could leave her here but that would be no fun and she would ultimately just come after him again when he tried to rob another bank.

“Tie her up” Megawatt finally said turning to a couple of his goons “but don’t take her out of the room until we our completely ready to go the faster she is out of the gas the faster she can wake up” he called helping the others get the money out and moving quickly.

Within seconds they were in the van peeling away with one more treasure they hadn’t planned on having

“I wonder when she will wake up” Megawatt said to himself leaning against the fold out chair and watching her, after completing the heist the crew had retired back to their HQ a small mansion Megawatt had built. He refused to call his home a “lair” and instead made it warm and inviting a nice place from above. Below ground however it was a fully equipped bunker with all the latest security and things he needed to continue his reign as one of the best thief’s in the business.

And business was good

She was in a cell made of rough stone concrete, chains held her in place heavier than ever he powers could break out of. The room was wired to spray the gas in if she so much as reached the door and for now she was secured.

Which was why he was waiting for her to wake up

The first of Starwind's senses returned. She heard almost nothing, just an echo of still air. Next came her touch. She felt chains. Heavy chains. She could tell they were strong, and it could probably be be stronger than her even if she was at her strongest, and unfortunately, she wasn't. She didn't even know which way was up or down or if she was standing up or lying down.

Her eyes opened her eyes and saw stone. She looked around the blurred room until her eyes focused and saw the man she hated to see. But then again, she was alive. He didn't kill her. What was going on?

"Damn it, Megawatt," she said with a hoarse voice. "What are you doing? Let me go this instant," she hissed at him.

If there was one thing she was thankful for, it seemed like she still had her dignity intact. But why did he capture her? She couldn't imagine what he would want with her. Wouldn't it be better if he had killed her? That was supposed to be one problem off her back. But these villains were insane, if not downright loopy.

"What do you think you're doing?" She tried tugging at her chains and they won't even give. She looked at the chain and grunted. It was too thick for her. She wasn't even that much stronger than a champion weightlifter, but he still didn't take any chances.

“I have studied your abilities” Megawatt said shaking his head and watching her struggle against her bonds “I know your healing powers our good to good to kill you with out taking a lot of time and energy” He said nodding at the fact that she didn’t have a scratch on her after the fire fight.

“So I didn’t kill you I also detest killing” Megawatt said shrugging and getting up “I don’t need to kill you to take you out of the picture you’re locked up now after all” he said pointing at her bonds.

“That isn’t going to change any time soon” he said nodding at the security measures in place and looking back at her “So until I figure out what I want to do with you I’ll keep you locked up and feed and water you” he said laughing and leaning against the wall just out of her reach.

"Just what I'd figured for a coward." She growled at him tugging at her bonds.

She glared at him and then grinned. "Well, if you want it this way, make sure you don't regret anything."

Starwind knew she was just talking big, but that was all she could do for the meantime. But maybe she can taunt him even more to let her go.

"So what? You're just going to leave me here? That's it? Hah! You're not man enough to do anything, are you?"

“sticks and stones Star” Megawatt called as he left the room “sticks and stones” he said one last time before nodding at his crew to close the door and seal it. He looked at her one last time before turning to her guards his playful face dropping to a serious one.

“You fucking watch her” Megawatt said sparking his fingers so they got the point. They both nodded rapidly and he left going to the elevator that led back up to the mansion with a pleased smirk, not only had the bank heist been a rousing success but he now had his arch foe captive to and dinner with a beautiful super model with his public identity.

Life was pretty good

He walked out nodding at various members who worked with him, seconds later he was stepping into his private helicopter watching as the blades spun into action and lifted him off the helipad. It turned and in seconds he was gone leaving his house and his captive with out a second thought.

Starwind gave a frustrated sigh at her predicament before shaking her head. No. She needed to fight. She looked at her guards and they were chatting away, playing poker on their table. She felt her bonds and knew it was impossible to break them, but Megawatt did something stupid. He relied on the strength of the chains so much, he didn't think she would try slipping away. Slowly, her hand slipped from the chains and in no time she was free.

Quietly, she crept up to the two men before bashing their heads together. They were both out cold in one blow. She pulled one of the guards, filched his key and set herself free. She had planned to just escape, but then again, there might be something in his house she could use against him.

She roamed the house knocking out guards and hiding them somewhere until she came to his bedroom looking for anything about Megawatt that she could use. She wasn't surprised that the room was rich and luxurious. The man was a master thief. Of course he would spend all the money he stole on his own luxury.

She rummaged through his belongings, keeping a wary eye on the door should his henchmen drop by and then she saw something. Curious, she took a closer look at it.

It was a simple thing, a picture by the bed side of his master bed room. The picture was of some one who looked vaguely like Megawatt (as much as some one could when she hadn’t ever seen his eyes) he was standing his arms thrown casually around a girl as he beamed up at the camera.

A girl that she knew very well

“Hey what are you doing up here” A guard said coming out and bringing his assault riffle up “I need backup down here now!” he shouted unlatching the safety on his fun and aiming down the sight at her.

Starwind didn't even look back at the door as soon as she heard one of the guards. She quickly went for the window and jumped, leaving the bullets whizzing right past over her head. Below, a tree came between her and the ground ans she used that to soften her fall, grabbing and leaping down branches until she hit the ground rolling and running to the walls.

Fortunately for her, back at the mansion, others were just finding guards knocked out and they were scrambling looking for others. Some of the men took their mates to the medic while the others scrambled to fill in their fallen comrades' positions while the rest chased after her. Starwind used the confusion to escape as she climbed up the wall as parkours do and ran away from the bullets, the dogs and the vehicles, using the city's underbelly to slip away.

Once she knew she was safe, she headed back to her place through the back window and slumped on her bed. She quickly stripped her uniform and became Leila again.

Leila scratched her head, unable to believe what she had found. It was him. It was really him, wasn't it? But he was just so nice and goofy, she never even thought he could hurt a fly if it buzzed around his food...alright, so he had a bit of a violent side, but that was just something they had fun with. Nothing serious.

But the photo was there. Her ex-boyfriend and her, framed and on the bedside table. Her stomach did somersaults. It was impossible for him to put it there if that guy wasn't him! Of all the villains she ever came across, he was the most tenacious, daring and bloody brilliant son of a gun!

And he was...him!

How long had it been? If she came to him, would he recognize her without her mask? Taking a deep breath, she found out about his social circles and looked for any party or mixer he was invited to. Maybe she could talk to him and figure out what was going on. Not as Starwind, but as Leila. Starwind could come in later.

Because deep in her heart, she still loved him. She didn't want him to be stuck doing what he did. And most of all, she didn't want to be his enemy. If he didn't feel anything for her anymore, then at least she wanted him to be her friend again.

She crawled under the covers, pulling the blanket over her head. Unable to sleep, she kept thinking about the piicture and finding a way to meet him by accident.

“What do you mean she got away?!” Megawatt growled his fancy phone cracking a little as he curled his fist in anger. The man in charge of her started to say some thing but he ended the call and threw his phone across the seat of the limo he was in.

“I’m surrounded by idiots” Megawatt murmured closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose. He should have known they would be incapable of keeping her locked up, his guards weren’t the brightest of henchmen and it was laughably cliché that the hero would have escaped form the villains clutches. She was probably scouring the city for him now intent on having her revenge for her imprisonment.

Luckily he wasn’t Megawatt right now

He felt the Limo pull up to the charity ball and he pushed the news out of his mind, He was Alex Cross now rich successful and every one’s favorite socialite. Long ago he had been a normal boy with normal problems but after discovering his powers he had abandoned that identity. Alex Cross was every mans (and women’s) dream, rich, good looking, and surrounded in luxury. The minute he stepped out of the Limo he was being photographed as every one vied to get his picture or grab a quote.

He played the crowd well, shaking hands and kissing ass like he was born for it. No one could have guessed he was a super villain or that he was secretly evil. He played his parts as if he was a master of disguise switching from one mask to another as easily as if he was breathing.

He stepped into the ball room and gave the attendant his coat, he didn’t bring a date for the event so he went to bar right away grabbing a drink and leaning against the bar seeing if any beautiful woman caught his eye.

Alex Cross. Leila was sure he was the same guy. She could feel her pulse race just at the sight of him stepping out of his limo. Well, he was certainly living a double life! A good-natured billionaire philanthropist by day and a criminal by night. Why couldn't he just have used his powers for good instead of evil? There must be a reason why and she was going to find out about it. But first...how to get in a high socialite party when all she had to her name was a bloody degree in international studies?

She sneaked around the back and saw a truck delivering food items. She wound her way around it and casually strode in the back as if she belonged there. One of the guards looked at her and she looked back at him as if she was too important for him.

"Excuse me, who are you?"

"Quality control." She patted him on the shoulder. "Good job. You're not slacking. You're not letting anyone sneak past you?"

"No, ma'am."

"Good. Heaven knows how many people would try to get in there with all the rich and famous around. You'll never know if anyone wants to poison or kidnap them. Keep vigilance."

The guard nodded and saluted to her, forgetting to ask for her ID as she walked past with her head high. As much as Leila wanted to breath a sigh of relief, she didn't. This was the first time she had ever done such a thing and, quite frankly, it unnerved her. It was amazing how real some of those movies were! Once in, no one else took notice of her as she strode past the busy kitchen and, finally, into the great hall.

The hall was filled to the brim with the most notable and prestigious of the city in their gowns and tuxes, laughing and chatting about as if there was nothing wrong with the city. In the whole chamber, she was completely underdressed. Even the waiters and waitresses looked more primed for the evening than she was. If she looked any more conspicuous than she already was, she was definitely going to get thrown out, or worse, locked up in jail! And though she was friends with the chief, she was only friends with him as her alter ego. Not as the girl who pushed pencils in an obscure office getting low pay.
