The showpiece cenotaph at the graveyard in Northern France was smeared in red paint with the words: “Dig up your rubbish. It’s fouling our soil.”

Roy Hemmington — spokesman for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission — said: “We are deeply offended. This is the strongest language and most vile graffiti I have witnessed at a war graves cemetery.

It's a good reason to hate French vandals.

I thought those French were all artists, that doesn't look artistic at all...

Those honored dead should never be moved off of French soil.

It is a constant reminder of who bailed their cowardly asses out.

They certainly aren't out for a popularity contest. The governments will have to find a way to work together in the future to some degree, the divide this is causing amongst the people in different places might remain intact for some time.

not to mention garlic breath, hairy under arms, open pissoirs, snail licking, arrogance, excesive and misguided love of country, rudeness.......

What goes around comes around, they (the people that did this) will get what is coming to them one day. Bad karma catches up to ya and bites ya on the ass.

Any of you remember poem Flanders Field?

Ahh, yes Richard. In Flanders Fields the poppies grow........

Wasn't that written for WWI?

BTW-

I heard a briefing in which the RG is using French & Russian night vision against coalition troops.

FRENCH OPINION
34% - support US-led forces
25% - support Iraq
31% - support neither side

I hope they get along well, two cultures that don't shower much!

1 out of 4 French want Saddam Hussein to win this war, nothing they do should surprise anyone.

That's the sad truth.

"Vandals" is a good term for these perpetrators and resentment towards there acts put in its proper perspective.

If we allow ourselves to destroy our relations with other nations due to these disagreements that run through individuals in our own country as well as between countries then we only worsen the state of affairs over-all and our chances for global harmony.

We are the dead, short days ago
We lived, felt dawn saw sunset's glow.

they spelt roast beefs wrong :)

i dont think you can take this seriously though while it is an awful bit of vandalism you can't judge a country on it

sexy-girl

25% of the country wants Iraq to win the war...it extends much deeper than just this vandalism.

I wonder what percentage of the French population is Islamic. That could be a reason why.
