A gun is a tool, it's as simple as that. People that think guns are a physical piece of evil and bringing down the world need to look at the amount of crime committed with knives, hammers, and other tools.

As for getting a gun I have no problems submitting to a background check or whatever measures you want to take to make sure I am not a criminal as I have nothing to hide. Let's face it that most people intent on using guns for crime are probably not going down to the sporting goods store and filling out paperwork. This also bring us to the point of if you want to ban guns or get rid of them all you are doing is making it hard or impossible for the good people to get them. As with the alcohol ban a long time ago during criminals will find ways to get what they need.

So in final if you want to give me a background check, that is fine. You want me to register the weapon, I have no problem with that. If you want me to take some training class to be able to better use the weapon, sign me up (I already have taken some.) Let people be able to purchase firearms and be able to defend themselves though.

According to the guy who made a death threat, the other guy said he would "get you."

One made a death threat, the other did not. Death threats are not free speech.

And if the "get you" guy had said "I'll cut off your head and piss down your neck" instead, then the death threat guy has reasonable grounds to have him restrained by the cops. Answering with a death threat makes both of them guilty. For context, add in the fact that he's a gun nut who thinks God wants him to carry a concealed weapon. He is definitely a danger to society at large, and shouldn't be allowed back onto the Texas Capitol grounds.

The Democrat has now admitted to having "put his hands on" the Republican. He kind of had to because it was caught on video. he denies that while he put his hands on the Republican that he told him that he and the other hispanic lawmakers and their supporterd would get him in the parking lot and that the Republican would have to leave here sooner or later.

when was it? Oh yes just yesterday the left was outraged about a republican putting his hands on someone.

Yay! You get a participation ribbon rom, you didn't really contribute anything other than your normal blathering but I am very proud of you that this time you took less than 20 days to come up with a response. Just sad that you continue believe your own bullshit.
 
A buddy of mine when younger went to a hockey game in Detroit. Got into an altercation with a large dude and stupidly drew a knife. Got arrested and put in jail. While their he attracted the attention of some badass black dudes. Wasn't looking good for him. Then they found out he was from Canada. They took to calling him 'Canada' and left him alone. Ended up getting a light probation sentence or maybe less.

Now how are disarmed Mexicans supposed to suddenly switch to smuggling guns into the US? Why would they on a large scale like drugs? Unless the US found out it citizens were just plain hooked on guns. Many of our street gang criminal types may have access to a gun but they are not the heavily armed variety that the US has. A gang might share a gun or two. Our cops are not usually outgunned. Unless some nutter with a long gun. But that is changing.

Maybe if the US many years ago had been willing to work with leftists central American countries not organize CIA led coups they would be better off and not such a source for drugs, drug mules and illegal immigrants.

So lets hear some more lame excuses why Yanks have to go about armed? Much easier than dealing with the underlying causes I realize. Cheaper too and some one can make a profit from selling guns. Hard to make a profit from expensive social changes.

It's perfectly lawful, if stupid, to issue a conditional threat of use of force when the other person has threatened the use of force. Much better to simply wait and see whether the guy is a blowhard.

If accosted in tbe parking lot, he would have reasonable fear for his safety and can use what ever force he reasonably needs to to stop that threat, up to and ncluding putting a bullet in the head of the guy who actually initiated this entire incident.

Even Laurel has expressed concerns about hard ROMs idea that it's okay to throw bricks at people he disagrees with, which he regulary says he would feel justified in doing.

If hardrom in person said to me, "I think your ideas are evil, and given the chance to do so, I would feel morally justified in hurling bricks at you."

I can without any fear of legal repercussion advise him that I am armed and if he were to reach for a brick, I will fire as many bullets into his center of mass as I deem necessary to stop him from doing that.

Force does not need to be equal and proportionate, merely justified.

You are trying to argue that words about force (that need not be proportional) must be of equal stupidity.

"Me and my friends are gonna "get" you in the parking lot" is more than sufficent reason for an eventual claim of self-defense, if needed.

Where did you get the idea that Mexican gangs are disarmed? Just because guns are illegal in Mexico has no impact whatsoever on their availability.

Thousands of people shot to death in Mexico are not all being shot by the same gun.

Your buddies have short, violemt tempers and make threats with weapons like bricks and knives that they don't follow through on.

I think in the interest of world peace and understanding you should head on down to Detroit get into an argument with some black guys and let them know you're from Canada.

You don't get into an argument with them. You just strike up a conversation and let it come out that you are Canadian. Everybody likes Canadians. Except racist righty gun nuts who feel threatened by our inclusive, peaceful ways. Get into an argument with anybody regardless of race or ethnicity is not a good idea. Unless it is some righty racist gun nut on the WWW. They are free game to taunt and tease with truths, facts and statistics.

Why?

Only one of them committed the act of assault when he threatened to follow him into the parking lot with his friends. Threats of violence for the purpose of intimidation are by definition of assault.

Letting the violent tempered Democrat know that you are armed and prepared to repel his violence is not any sort of crime.

You're already said that you couldn't wander around Detroit because those black guys were going to mug you (because America forces them into a life of poverty and crime) so now your plan is to just let them know you're Canadian and sing Kumbaya? This doesn't seem very consistant.

I never said blacks guys would mug you. I discriminate against Yanks regardless of colour. I said some one with a gun. The gun is the bad thing not the skin colour. But you wouldn't understand that bit of simple reasoning.

The guy my buddy got in an altercation with (when 16 or so) was white. And actually started things. Dumb ass kid had a buckle knife. That is what got him in trouble. The badass black dudes in jail he got along fine with. If he had been some skinny assed white American kid in there for trying to look badass he probably would have got a beating. But sitting around in effect singing Kumbaya with the poor underclass of American society saved him.
