Anyone in England wearing cowboy boots is going to be a bit wacky, so I'd avoid. Stupid stereotypes would see me avoiding moto and work boots.

If I see tennis shoes, maybe I can see his bare legs, too and that'd give me a clue on his body type (slim, please!)

Safe choice (for me) is business shoes.
