Boy do I love this thread. Technically, you could be one of the few people I've met since moving to MN. :)

A Not-Very Quiet Riot

The Beatles took the stage, but the crowd surged forward and demanded the headliner. No one bothered to ask how John Lennon and George Harrison had returned from the dead, nor why, after so many years, all four of the Lads decided to make the most of the preternatural phenomenon and put the band back together. "Questiongirl! Questiongirl!" the crowd chanted angrily, tossing bottles at the stage and threatening abstract violence on the bewildered Mop Tops. John mumbled a greeting that was met with jeers and rude whistles. He winced and turned back to the band. Ringo shrugged. The club management gestured furiously for them to start playing something or get off the stage.
"Well shake it up baby, now!" started John, but his voice was still hoarse from the effort of reanimation. And anyway, the crowd wasn't having it. Even the security guards, who were supposed to keep the audience at least four feet from the stage, had turned to face the band and were all demanding to see the Questiongirl.
Then a light fell from the ceiling and smashed on the floor just before the stage. No one is sure exactly what happened in the next few seconds, or whether the light was cut or otherwise loosed from its mooring, but all control dissolved and the club was a riot scene. The Beatles dropped guitars and drumsticks and made for the exit, and were lucky to escape just as the stage was gulfed in flailing, furious bodies.
Amid it all no one noticed Questiongirl creep out from the wings with a kazoo, her traditional instrument. Dressed in a long strapless gown slit up to mid thigh, she seated herself atop the piano like a perfect nightclub vamp and blew a haunting kazoo arrangement of "Yesterday." The violence carried on but she played, unperturbed. When the song was finished she bowed and headed out to the tour bus, to assuage the anxieties of the elder rock and rollers. The piano was destroyed moments later.

Eh, no need for any of that...LOL

I just need to find interesting things to go out and do here. And I don't think the M of A, or Ikea really count. LOL

oh lordy lordy lordy...
that means you're close.

you need to check out the Guthrie (especially Guthrie Lab and Cue restaurant); MIA; the great resturants downtown and on Eat Street; NE Minneapolis art galleries and studios (Northrup King Building) and restaurants; the chain of lakes (Calhoun, Harriet, Lake of the Isles, etc); Chino Latino!!!; shows at the Uptown Theatre; improv at the Brave New Workshop; the Midtown Global Market on Lake Street; and Bryant Lake Bowl!!!

Close is in the eye of the beholder. M of A or Ikea aren't exactly a spur of the moment trip. They are close enough that I don't mind going however. I've explored the MN Zoo (before it got colder) and their IMAX, went to my first college hockey game, and did some sort of pub crawl in Minneapolis, all of which were fun. I've had recommendations for some restaurant in the cities that has outdoor lawn bowling, but I think this time of year, that would be out of the realm of possibilities. I'll have to look into your suggestions, thanks! :)

Hey there lovely, how are you tonight? I bet it's really cold there. I used to have a friend in Duluth, though I have never been there. I just looked at one of your recent pics. Very nice and lovely as usual.

What's GB?

Maybe I will have a glass of wine as well. :)

Hi TG

GB = the General Board ...

yes, it's cold, and will be getting colder! -15 to -25 degrees this weekend!

Yeah...the high temp will be below 0 on Sat. At least it's nice to look out the window and watch it snow tonight.

I have no concept of what that kind of cold is like. For me, freezing is very cold. I have little experience below that. But them I'm a california boy. Have you lived in MN all your life?
