Oh my freaking gawd will this story NEVER end???????

Maybe if I changed it to 8 point type it would appear so long. I want this thing to be over. I really do. Why? I want the feedback darn it. *sigh* I'm greedy, it's awful. I have to finish the story first then I get the kudos. Finish, then kudos. Maybe if I tell myself that enough I'll believe it.

Yes, there is a FatalMuffinFlaw that presumes I will get kudos. Well, my editor didn't reply back and ask me if I was sure I oughtn't try to pursue the medical secretary thing from ICS. That oughta mean something, right??? I said, RIGHT???? Sheesh.

Is it just me that I write a satisfactory tenish page story, send it off, and it comes back with, "Great start! Can't wait to read the rest of it!" Or something similar? Does anyone else have this problem? Do you have trouble making the stories too long, or too short? How do you remedy this?

KM... I give you kudos for being able to stick with an erotic story for 63 pages... You are definetly crazy and you should have yourself checked
In my own experience, I have found that usually my stories seem too short, but once they are posted on Lit, somehow they seem longer... Oh well, I can't wait to read yours...

I've only written one story of that length, so take this advice with a grain of salt. Be sure you're not skipping dialog and character development just to finish it. Don't worry about the length, you can always divide the story into parts after it's finished. Or if you get to around 120 pages, you can post it as a novel.

I already did that chatbug my editor and my friend who consents to read it and puts up with my whining at the same time both keep telling me to knock it off. I thought it was done. My editor beat me about the head and shoulders, "you forgot to develop your characters you twit!" My friend kept saying, "you mean this is it?" I felt like a guy who'd just spent hours making love to a virgin.

*sigh*

I have to finish it first, it's long enough to be salable. From those who've read it, it's extremely good. Don't tell anyone, but my editor admitting that it made her a little hot in places.

I'd love to read it also. And as a fellow author, I can understand your problem.

Though I've never written any Erotic stories before, I have written many others. Like Chatbug said, don't try to throw an ending onto it. I've done that, and I seriously hated myself for it.

If you want feedback, post it in sections. Find a part that leaves the paragraph hanging on the edge of that proverbial cliff. Once you find it, take what's above it and post it somewhere. Even if it's somewhere that people won't easily find. Then, just give the people you trust for true comments the addy. That way, you'll get feedback without having to tell everyone everything. A little mystery never hurt anyone.

I know where it's going and what I'm going to do with it, I just didn't want to do it. It's bound to double this damned thing in size. *sigh* You know how many words that is? Toooo many words. The story is just to compelling to stop writing it though. Otherwise I'd rip the good bits and rework them into other stories.

long stories

Take it from someone with long story-itis. It's not necessarily a bad thing but sometimes I have fun just cutting it up into sections and to hell with the ending. Eventually you'll come up with one if you stop focusing on it for awhile. Also you could pull out sections that aren't that relevant but still hot and save them for another shorter story (just change the characters names)!
I've just got a huge long 15 chapter series that I'm trying to find some poor kook to edit for me - not easy
