And it's about damned time.

It's been bone dry and hot as hell down here in South Florida for quite some time. Tonight I've been watching a rather boisterous T-Storm rumbling in from the west. Well this one finally has come in over us and the rain is starting to fall and Momma Nature is giving me a nice lightshow.

(All of the kittens just came tearing ass inside off the patio.)

Florida gives the best T-storm shows. :) Hate them, sometimes, cos they scare me (like the kittens), but there isn't another light show like it on earth ... unless it's out West. ;)

Peace, Cat,

I remember watching one lighting show sitting at an outside cafe in Marathon Key right at dusk. Incredible, primarily for the clarity. We get some good thunder boomers in Kansas, but unless you are out in the middle of nowhere, you don't get that effect. Unless it is really, really close....

The absolute best T-Storm I have seen was in all places on Cape Cod.

I was working security at a beach resort and had received a call of a woman who had left the Beach Bar to walk along the beach. The people there were worried because a storm was coming in.

I drove down the beach, edged by high bluffs, and found her roughly a mile from the bar. I had just coaxed her into my truck when the storm struck with a rippling series of Lightining strikes right on the beach. It was incredible. I was right in the middle of it. (I later went back and found a spot where the lightning had originated on the beach, I still have a piece of fused sand from that site.)

For absolutely awesom storms though you have to be in the mountains. They can make your hair curl.

The neatest storm I have ever witnessed was one that blew in during a night dive off the coast here in Florida. We were in 30 feet of water and the storm blew through. Scary but truly neat.

Can you tell I like T-Storms?

so very jealous.
the best thunderstorms ive ever seen were on the water. the reflection makes the lightning even brighter and water carries the sound too.
the storms here scare the jeebies out of me. strobe like and continuous thunder, make me worry about tornadoes.

Looked ut the windows in work today and saw the clouds were a slight tinge of green. Not far to the south I noticed a dip in the clouds. Oh man how I wanted to grab a video cam and head south.

No twisters came down although we did have warnings.

When the rains washed through it was heavy enough, for five minutes, that we couldn't see across the street. Then it all vanished once again and we had sunshine and high temps. (Not to mention 100% humidity)

Tonight we have had sprinkles come through, enough to get you wet if your outside. Just enough to smell on the hot pavement. If we don't start to get some rain soon we'll be in trouble again. (Oops, I shouldn't say that. The last time I did we got plenty of rain, in the form of Hurricanes.)
