The last time my one of my computers made a sound like that, it turned out to be the cooling fan going out on the video card.

It took me a long time to figure out the problem. but the fix was as simple as replacing the fan on the card.

It wouldn't hurt to check the cooling fan for the CPU either.

It was the battery on the motherboard for the memory.

Phew!! Nothing too major (or expensive to fix LOL)
