I'm new here and have a couple questions. What does a bump mean in a thread? Also, why will the pictures load automatically if I'm not signed in and won't if I am signed in to the board?

Welcome aboard Zorber,

Besides new to Lit, you sound new to posting on Forums. I would strongly recommend you take some time and read through the FAQ thread, it's about 3rd or 4th from the top of the main "How To" page.

You will find the answers to the questions you posted, and to some of the questions you have but haven't asked yet.

Again, welcome to the boards.

Em gave you some great advice wrt (with regard to) reading the FAQ's and the Blank Manual. Lots of good information to be found there. However, I don't recall your particular questions being listed there.

Whenever someone replies to a thread, it moves to the top of the forum page. The more active the thread, the closer it is to the top of the forum. Thus, when someone wants to boost a thread without adding to what has already been said, it is often called a "bump".

Whether or not pictures load when you're signed in has to do with what options you have selected in your control panel. When you login, look towards the top left of your screen. Right under the forum heading, you should see something that says User CP (it's in smaller print). Click it. Once you do that, your control panel will open, also on the left side of the screen. The very first section is Settings & Options, and the fourth selection from the top of that subsection is Edit Options. Click that. Scroll down to the section that says Thread Display Options. Set your preferences (and any other changes you may wish to make in other sections), then scroll down to the save changes button at the bottom of the page. Click it, et voila! You're all set.
