I am a recovering sex addict and have been sober for over 4 years but some big changes in my life ( my daughter is graduating high school, lost a close friend to suicide, etc) has drawn me back into some bad habits. My wife and daughter are so proud of my sobriety yet I am back on here lurking. I know I will get some nasty replies on here but I hope to get some positive ones as well. I want to stay sober but feel it slipping away. Any helpful suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you

Humans, for the most part, are addictive by nature. A simple solution is to find something else more noble to be addicted to, but not complimentary to the addiction you are trying to remove from your life.

There's a very long list of recovering and current addicts that can help you. Start with the Liberals who are obviously on something very strong.

Get off this site and don't come back. Don't start a thread on a sex site that forces you to come back to a sex site where there is all that temptation. Do the same for other adult sites, magazines, PPV channels, late night skin flicks, titty bars, swinger clubs, etc.

I never liked the term sober for someone addicted to sex. (Who isn't? That's rhetorical.) It should be Disciplined or something similar. Being "sober" would be celibate. You have disciplined yourself not to fuck everything in the world in the weirdest ways without care for your well-being. You are Disciplined.

Get off the sex sites.

But if you have to remain here, try changing your username to something less obvious and enabling to your malady, like..."daschundz4uNme" ;)

Welcome to the Hotel California. You can check in any time you like, but you can never leave.:)

You should definitely stick around and follow all of the advice given out by the experts here. 🍻

You chose 'hardon4u2" as a username. I find it incredibly difficult to be supportive or sympathetic towards someone who chose 'hardon4u2" as a username. It's just beyond lame. If the shame of your terrible username isn't enough to stop you logging on, I don't know what could possibly deter you.

True that.

It's perhaps one of the many reasons why AA and NA were so much more successful than the interventions that focused solely on avoiding the negative.

There was an article the other day about obesity ("food addiction").
I can't remember exactly, but they said that it might not be just about lack of willpower as previously thought. But rather that thin people find that other things make them feel good about themselves or meaningful. (exercise, sounds etc.)

I have a breathing addiction. I just can't stop!

(seriously though, unless your dick's bleeding from the friction I don't see a downside, you like what you like and what's wrong with that? Hop off the christian guilt bandwagon and enjoy yourself. :))

I would like to see that science. Those statements are complete and utter bullshit. If NA, AA, and all the other A's teach us, it's go out and immediately get addicted to something else. Right?
