That's right, the public has been invited to name the recently discovered 4th and 5th moons of Pluto.

Hit the link and choose your favorite names from the list, or send in the write in form for a name not on the list.

Voting ends February 25th, so vote and vote often!:D

I voted for Acheron ....

He's in a series of books I was reading.

The series focuses on a society (the "Black Dagger Brotherhood") of vampire warriors who live together and defend their race against Lessers, de-souled humans who threaten their kind. It's a very good series of books to read.

Not to mention the sex scenes are phenomenal ...

:D

Cool!

There are two moons to be named so you can choose more than one name.

Me, I like Cerberus and Styx (because P1 is Charon, and the ferryman needs his river).

For Pluto wouldn't the apropriate names for the moons be Mickey, Mini, and Goofy?

Thanks for the link 1sickbastard! :D Love this sorta stuff.

p.s. Just a thought though, shouldn't we, in this forum, be naming the moons for Uranus? :p

She's a total science geek!

P.s. One would think so, however, Uranus's moons (27 of them known to date!) have all been named. Pluto's latest moons have only recently been discovered (thanks to a re-tasked Hubble space telescope), and the two most recent have yet to be named.

But do feel free to moon us with Uranus anytime you want!:D (Maybe some lucky explorer will be able to penetrate the rings of Uranus...)

Cerberus and Orthrus
Give Pluto its guardians.

I must be behind the news a little bit--last time I looked Pluto wasn't a planet anymore. Has it been reinstated?
