Why I'm voting for the president:

-prochoice
-was raised lower middle class
-ended Iraq war
-killed bin Laden
-passed healthcare reform

This said, I'd never vote for Romney for anything, so I'd be voting blue in this election regardless. I'm from SE MI, and would therefore never, ever vote for a Cranbrook alum. I also would never, ever vote for a Mormon under any circumstances. Even if I thought Romney would be a good president (which I don't), or agreed with his positions (which I guess I sort of don't, considering he's a human Etch a Sketch), I would never vote for him based strictly on the Cranbrook/Mormon things.

Years ago I was proselytized by two Mormon missionaries. I actually wanted to become a Mormon. I investigated the Mormon faith fairly thoroughly. When I discovered that Joseph Smith was a religious charlatan it came as a real disappointment.

On the internet I read an ex Mormon describe conversion to Mormonism as being similar to buying a beautiful Victorian mansion without examining the foundations. Finally the convert goes into the basement, turns on the lights, and sees things he hoped were not there.

Any intelligent Mormon who investigates his faith will have to make the same conclusion I made. That is why I am hesitant to vote for a Mormon even if the Mormon agrees with me on most of the issues. We need politicians who are able to recognize truths they wish were not true.
