Unless you're one of those benighted MAC users -- I haven't heard of a program that works as well that will run on a MAC.

That's about the only thingirfanview can't do -- it can display animted GIFS, but it can't edit them.

For animated GIFs, check out GIFWORKS (Google can give you the exact URL) or check out TUCOWS (linked above by ezzy) for an animation editor.

JASC's Animation Shop came on the CD with Paintshop Pro (and can be downloaded in a 30 day test version from www.jasc.com )and suffices for what little need I have for animation work. However, I think I'd find it extremely cumbersome if I dealt with animations more than once a year or so.
