Don't worry, this is easy! I need some help choosing fabric for a corset. You can see what the corset will look like by checking out the attached pictures. That's not me, obviously, and that's not the fabric I'm choosing...but it will be the same shape and style of corset. But I will look a million times better in it than that model! http://www.amanita.net/images/smilies/flirt.gif

So what I would like you to is click here to take a survey. Only the first page is required, the second you can skip (most people have been).

If you have any comments feel free to make them in this thread - I forgot to make a section in the survey for comments! And of course once the winner is chosen I will let you know what it is. And then once I get the corset, there will be pictures! (If you need some pictures to tide you over till then, here's the corset I got a few months back.

Thanks very much for your time!

Violet Silk Brocade. (yes I voted)

I have their basic twill 28 bone training corset, and really do like thier construction; unfortunately, my torso is just a wee bit too long for it, and I'll need to be custom fitted at some point. Sigh.

I loved the Gray Chrysanthemum Silk and the Thistle Swirl Brocade but honestly Etoile even getting them laced without marking them is going to be a biatch. The denim is cute for all day wear but may end up looking a little too 'wenchy'.

That left the two darker fabrics as more practical and versatile .I chose the Midnight Blue Dragon Brocade for what I perceive is the Feng Shui as well as its known I have a distinct leaning towards Asian culture and objet d'art. Having said that the Violet Silk Brocade is probably the best suit especially with your hair and coloring.

You already have dark corset's sooooooooooo hell I don't know.......laughs :rose:

Oh, I love their work! This is the third one I am ordering from them in under a year. The first was an off-the-rack 32" Victorian underbust that I quickly grew too small for, the second is a fully-custom 28" Victorian overbust that I currently fit perfectly and love to bits. (That's the black one in my pictures.) If I were still tightlacing on a daily basis I'd definitely get their waist training corset, the only other one I'd want to consider is this one by House of Worship.

If you ask around about Meschantes, you will hear terrible things about their customer service, which is why I always mention that I've only had GOOD experiences with them. The prices are great (if you buy on eBay) and the work is terrific.

Nah, I had a pale pink satin corset that I wore daily for a few months and it was fine! I also had a white brocade one that I was able to get on without any problems. My main concern is with the silk, I guess, because so far I've only had cotton brocade, cotton, silk brocade, and that satin one. I do worry a bit about whether the silk will be too delicate, although I'm no longer tightlacing on a daily basis so it's not going to get a huge amount of abuse or anything.

LOL, I know! That's the problem with being a light-skinned interpreter, more than half my clothes are dark, and probably about half my dark clothes are actually black! I do try to mix in burgundy and dark blue and other colors sometimes, but most of what I wear is dark solid colors. :)

Hi there! Have you looked at my signature? You might find what you're looking for.

Huh? You really should have said "for females only" in the title. The rest of us dont have a clue what you are talking about.
Respectfully, of course.

I got the waist training corset off eBay for $150- I think. It doesn't have the front busk, so getting in and out of it is a bit of an adventure (Ahem. I got stuck with the corset around my shoulders the first time I tried.), but now it's easy as pie. :)

Thankfully, I had a Friend who was very knowledgeable on the subject, so I worked on my weight before ordering one, and went ahead and skipped the 24" and 22" sizes- I didn't see much reason to re-order corsets every 6 weeks, which is what we projected would happen between weight loss and training 12-15 hours a day. (He was right.)

So for now my daily corset is a 20" underbust waist trainer in a plain twill. It's not quite long enough... if I position it to properly compress my ribs, the bottom doesn't fully cover my tummy; if I position it to cover my tummy, the top stops just under my ribcage. Sigh.

The original plan was to lace down to 20", but I got to 23" and realized that any smaller, would look all wacky and out of proportion- as it is, 23" puts a 14" - 16" differential between my waist and my hips- so I'm not sure I'll worry about getting all the way down to 20".

I am so covetting your pretty corset. One of my goals is to get a custom fitting done at Wasp Creations...

Silly man- we're discussing what fabrics Etoile should use for her next corset. If a girl decides that she is willing to suffer for the sake of beauty, she should do so in the prettiest materials possible. ;)

They're all very nice, but I picked the dragon as it seems more of a versital one for every day use, I liked the violet and the other purple one and well the other one not the denim but they seemed more fitting a period piece than an every day use type thing. But that may just be me. I found a gorgous material that I can't wait to make my next corset out of. :)

Me too! But purple is my fav color. I voted for the blue dragon silk because it's beautiful and hey, DRAGONS!!!

Fury :rose:

Since you already have a very dark one, I chose Gray Chrysanthemum Silk. It was really hard to pick, though, because I really liked them all. And listening to you and Cutie talk about them makes me want one, too. Maybe I deserve a special treat just for me. Hmmmmm.

Really? I thought I explained it pretty clearly. Are you sure you don't just need to read it again?

The idea that this thread is for females only is patently silly.

I didn't realize you were tightlacing! Oh yes, definitely you should get a custom fit one. You can cause damage by wearing an ill-fitting corset for a long time.

I envy you tightlacing though...sigh. I did it for about six months, and I finally had to admit it was negatively affecting my health. I still look at corset website obsessively, I just can't wear them full-time anymore.

You should go for a Wasp Creations corset! In my opinion Wasp and C&S are the two best makers for daily tightlacing. Unfortunately they're also PRICEY! I know someone who wears C&S exclusively but I don't have that kind of money!

Oh, and yes, I have bought new corsets about every three months this year! I was wearing a 34" in October last year, and the one I'm ordering now is 24". I'm getting extra long laces and I'll have a big gap for a while, but still...well, let's just say I never dreamed of fitting into a 24" again!

The midnight blue was my fav :) Now, you may have answered this elsewhere, but what exactly does the corset training do? I know this might sound ignorant but I am curious :) Could you lead me to the right place? Thanks! You look wonderful by the way! :)

Sorry, I quess Im just a black or white, denim or leather kind of guy, and actually surprised that I knew jeans are really denim.

It just reminded me of the old standby that we dont ever answer (if we know whats good for us) "honey, do I look better in this dress or that one?" answer... " you look great in both of them dear, which ever you like"

I choose the grey chrysanthemum, although I liked them all. The denim one i liked the least for the same reason as Rebecca stated.

The grey has black in it so it would go with all your dark clothing and let you experiment with lighter clothes if you wanted to.

Whichever you finally choose I look forward to seeing the pics :)

Made several choices - there were alot of great ones for your coloring. Can't wait to see the end result Etoile!
