My new birth control is preventing me from being my usual amount of wonderful horny. I miss it :[ It also makes it ridiculously hard to get wet- when I used to gush at the slightest touch from my man. We use lube but it's not the same :(

I need some new ideas on how to arouse myself- anything is welcome!

(Also, just so you know, I am on the birth control for medical reasons, so I just can't go off it).

Maybe try new things that push some boundaries in a way that might turn you on.

Or, make a game out of it with him, engaging in a bunch of teasing throughout the day. Text him pictures while he's out and see how worked up you can get him, at the same time imaging how it's affecting him.

Something! Just something different!

Think about what sorts of fantasies or daring things you've had in mind, but not tried. Often those kinds of things "up the ante" of horniness.

Dunno, but good luck!!!

Because this is a physical response rather than a mental/psychological response, you have one of two options: extend foreplay or go and discuss with your doctor about changing the brand of birth control.

It may, also, I am afraid to say, take some time for your body to adjust. You could be back to your normal physical self once the hormones has stabilised, so your doctor may suggest to give it some time. The unfortunate thing? It takes up to three months for hormones to take affect and for your body to adapt. Sorry.

But I would suggest having a chat with your doctor.

Hmmm... I've been on my most recent for about 6 months- and I've tried many other types of bc before this (I've been on it since I was about 16). Maybe it will still take some time. Thank you!

Arousing myself

I've got my horny going, no prob... just no real place to let it flood (...onto, or into, over to, up to, down to, wherever to, but, especially no WITH to... You know?)
Fuck! Just seeing the words "wet" or "hard" can make me cream. I've a similar problem, but of a different extreme, and, yes, is caused by a form of birth control, I suppose. Call it: Unintentional Celibacy

Just because I'm in a mischievous mood...

Fire Breeze is on the money. I took BC for years and took many different kinds to level out my estrogen levels. After 7 different brands, I found one that worked for me. Talk to your OB and Good luck!

I've tried the unintentional celibacy- it was KILLER. haha felt like I was on fire all the time and I would sweat at even hearing a man's voice!

Also thanks all- was hoping to avoid going back - it will be my millionth time this year! I appreciate the help!

What you are describing happens when the hormonal balances get out of whack, including depressing levels of testosterone (yes, women have it), and other hormones being out of balance can do what you are seeing. I suggest instead of talking to an OB, go to an endocrinologist who specializes in sex hormones, have them do a workup and see what they say. With all due respects to OB's, they aren't specialists in the hormones, if the pill keeps the person from getting pregnant and/or helps with problems with periods, etc, that is what they are looking for, endos are specialists in the hormones themselves. There are herbal supplements that can help balance out hormones, but because you are taking bc's, I think the best answer is talk to an endo. I have direct experience with hormones and how tricky they are, the guy I worked with was the head of the endo department at a teaching hospital, wrote much of the book on trans HRT, and he routinely told me as much as they thought they knew about the endocrine system and hormones, there was a lot that surprised any practictioner:)

What are you on? I was on the pill for years (combined and also progesterone only), and then on the depo provera (injection), which was convenient, but really killed my sex drive. Now I have the Mirena IUD, which is very minimially hormonal, and it's much better than anything I've had before.

Try warming lubricant. That extra bit of tingle may help kick things off.

Try rigorous exercise.

Try quasi painful things: ice cubes, spanking, etc. You want things that cause sudden discomfort. Gets the heart racing and a shot of adrenaline.

Find a smell that you enjoy and think is kind of sexy. Take a few sniffs every time there is something arousing or contexted sexually. You're training your brain that this scent means sex. When getting ready to have fun, take some whiffs. As with all training, repetition is vital

Decrease in libido is unfortunately a common side effect of many birth control pills. Talk to your doc about it and ask if there is another pill you could take? There are so many differently composed pills on the market these days.

I seem to go through phases when I struggle and I've always found a long, gentle session of him just sucking and playing with my nipples really helps. Doesn't need to take masses of effort, we cuddle up and close our eyes, he can relax and I can just enjoy it. Won't work if he is impatient, he needs to be happy to settle down to it for a while. I wouldn't know how long we are usually there for, I never look, but if you're not thinking about it that is the idea. For some reason it makes me a lot wetter than if he is being firmer or more active with me.
