Hello everyone. It has been some time since I have posted regularly here, but hopefully people still remember me :)

I have visited NYC a number of times in the last few years. Because of this and my love for the place, my parents have asked me to arrange a trip there for them which includes booking somewhere nice to stay for the 6 days they are there for.

This is going to be a special trip for them as it to celebrate their retirement. This means they are looking for somewhere nice and comfortable to stay that has a bit of charm and an added bit of luxury too as this is something they will not be able to afford to do again. I really want to make this special for them, but I feel like the choice of hotels is becoming more of a minefield! Yes, sites like trip advisor are a big help, but if anyone on here can suggest somewhere based on experience that they think might be suitable to my slightly fussy parents, then please come out and say so :)

My first thought was finding somewhere fairly central, but the more I think about it, perhaps somewhere less busy like Chelsea, Greenwich, TriBeCa or soho might be better for them. Again, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

There are so many great hotels. Some more details would be helpful. What are they looking to spend per night? Have any struck your fancy so far?

At the moment the budget is around $500 a night at an absolute maximum, so anything cheaper would be a bonus. Then I guess somewhere that has good service, is located in manhattan and is somewhere they can rest after a hectic day exploring. I'm probably worrying more than I should as you Are right, there are alot of good places, but I would love to hear any experiences or suggestions that people have had. I just want them to feel like they have got value for money as well as somewhere that isn't too noisy and looks after them.

The shortlist so far includes the library, the James in soho, trump in soho, Casablanca and a few others in TriBeCa and Chelsea that I've forgotten the names of right now!

I like the Tribeca Grand.
